St. Gabriels is a Voluntary Organisation based in Limerick. St Gabriels provide services and therapeutic interventions to children and adults with disabilities through their Childrens Disability Network Teams, Hydrotherapy Pool, Orthotics Department and Respite House. St. Gabriels is the Lead Agency to two Childrens Network Disability Teams; Treehouse Team covering Community Health Care Network 6 and South City Team which covers Community Healthcare Network 7. Due to the allocation of additional posts, we wish to recruit the following highly motivated and enthusiastic staff members to join the Childrens Disability Network Team in the following roles: Senior Social Work Practitioner A panel may be formed for similar positions that may arise within our organisation. Senior Social Work Practitioner: The ideal candidate will hold a relevant qualification and have a minimum of 3 years post graduate experience subsequent to obtaining that qualification. Applicants must be registered with CORU or eligible to be registered with CORU. This post will facilitate the continued implementation of PDSCYP with emphasis on optimal achievement of outcomes for children and their families. This model includes a focus on development and enhancement of collaborative working with families, schools, and pre-schools to support children with complex disability to achieve their full potential. We are currently seeking highly-motivated Social Care - Work Based Learning Programme to join our team in various locations in Cork. Contract Type: Variable Hours with a potential for a permanent role at the end of the 3-year learning period (subject to the availability of suitable roles). Contract Hours: Variable - (1) 35 hours per week when undertaking on-the-job learning hours as part of the BA (Hons) Social Care, UCC and (2) additional locum relief hours as and when needed. Note: No payment issues for course attendance in UCC. Salary Scale: The current salary scale for this post is €26,606. This pay scale is subject to increases in 2025 in accordance with the recent WRC agreement towards enhanced pay adjustments in Section 39 organisations. Annual Leave Entitlement: 10.7% of hours worked Overview of the Post: The purpose of this post is to provide the employee with on-the-job learning opportunities as a work-based learner in social care. The successful candidate will learn social care skills on the job while providing direct support to the individuals using our day, residential and respite services with the support and supervision of their line manager and their assigned social care mentor. The work-based learner will also attend academic training and study in UCC/MTU ( Student Contribution and Student Capitation fee costs will be met by Enable Ireland ) and are required to pass all academic examinations and meet CORU standards of proficiency during work-integrated learning/placement blocks, and to maintain records of progression and development. Failure to pass all academic requirements may result in a pause in employment and a change in employment status subject to the employer's needs and requirements at that time. The post-holder will work closely with the local line manager and assigned social care mentor in maintaining high standards of performance in their role. Applicants must have six recognised subjects in the Leaving Certificate (or equivalent) and must obtain a minimum Grade H5 in two subjects and minimum Grade O6/H7 in the remaining four subjects. This must include Irish (unless exempt) and English. Plus A minimum of 12 months experience working in a Social Care or Social Care related setting. Or 2. Hold a level 5/6 QQI FETAC qualification from those listed below with Distinctions* (i.e. 80% or greater) in 4 modules. Plus A minimum of 12 months experience working in a Social Care or Social Care related setting. Recognition of Prior Learning Consideration under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may also be given to applicants who have at least three years' professional experience in a social care or social care-related field. RPL will be assessed using a predetermined rubric which reviews both experiential and certificated learning.
