Job Description

An opportunity has become available for an experienced Oracle DBA to join Version 1 on a permanent basis.  We are looking for an individual who enjoys a fast pace, can prioritise workload, and is eager to gain industry experience. You'll have a history of developing and supporting Database Server solutions for mid-to-enterprise level organisations. 

This is a great opportunity for the successful candidate to progress their existing skills with a leading Microsoft Gold Partner and Oracle Platinum Partner working with cutting edge technologies, alongside a team of experienced Oracle and SQL Server database administrators exercising and developing the wide range of necessary skills that distinguishes a rounded consultant:

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Supporting the database capability to ensure the 24x7 availability of key systems.
  • Administering database security in accordance with industry best practice
  • Administering Back-up and Disaster Recovery of the Linux and database estate.
  • Contributing to identifying, prioritising, and resolving database incidents and problems.
  • Implementing database procedures and documentation to maximise the effectiveness and quality of working practices within the Linux and Database team.

Developing a general understanding in the areas of operating system programming, database, and system design.

Qualifications

5 years + experience (including 3-year specialist experience in an Oracle DBA support role)  

  • IT or Engineering degree or equivalent qualification. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Knowledge of the constraints and challenges of supporting a secure, high-availability IT environments.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Working experience in the following technology areas:
    • Oracle Database Administration.
    • SQL Server Database Administration.
    • Red Hat Linux or Oracle Linux Administration.
    • Oracle Exadata Administration.
    • Oracle RAC 19c Administration.
    • Oracle ASM Administration.
    • Database Backup and Recovery procedures (RMAN).
    • Oracle Data Guard configuration and administration.
