Analog Devices is seeking a Digital Design engineer to join its Isolation Power & Interface group based in Limerick or Cork. The group is the market leader in galvanic safety isolation products due to its proprietary iCoupler transformers and ‘More Than Moore’ wafer fabrication technologies. As these technology capabilities advance there is an emerging need for greater complexity in mixed signal design requirements to bring next generation ground-breaking products to the Medical, Industrial and Test & Measurement markets.

The Role & Responsibilities

  • Innovate new technology and product designs which expand the frontier of Isolated Power and Interface products.
  • Digital Design lead within the local team, with a responsibility to oversee any additional remote digital design resources (either internal or contract)
  • Collaborate closely with Analog Design leads during System level definition to create a robust and efficient Digital Architecture ◦Decomposing System level requirements to set of requirements and specifications at the digital hardware level
  • Work within the overall ADI digital design community to proliferate & share best practice methodologies and technologies.
  • Contribute to the project level digital design activities:
    • Full chip/block level RTL design and implementation
    • Design-for-Test implementation
    • Collaborate with analog engineers to define mixed-signal control loops, interfaces and calibration schemes.
    • Work with digital and analog verification teams on verification plans, test cases, and analysing test results.
    • Modelling/simulating/debugging digital circuits.
  • Liaising/mentoring the physical design team to achieve implementation of the digital cores (i.e.  synthesis, P&R, timing closure etc…)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Analog Devices has multiple positions available for digital design engineers with
    • BEng/MEng degree in Electronics Engineering with 4+ years relevant Digital Design Experience
    • BEng/Meng degree in Electronics Engineering with 10+ years relevant Digital Design Experience

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in architecting and specifying complex digital systems.
  • Broad experience working with digital design, implementation and verification tools.
  • Strong knowledge of RTL coding techniques and good design practices
  • Understanding of SystemVerilog based Verification testbenches in a UVM environment.
  • Good supplementary skill in scripting languages such as TCL, Perl, Python, or similar
  • Good project management and organisation skills
  • Good understanding of physical digital implementation (i.e.  from synthesis, P&R, scan insertion static timing analysis etc…)
  • A good understanding of mixed signal system level considerations and DFT implementation
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to understand and clearly articulate technical issues.
  • Proven experience in productively engaging with cross-functional, global development teams with strong sense of responsibility to deliver on time.
