Director, Finance & Accounting-  Dublin, Ireland

We are looking for a passionate candidate to join international team in the position Director, Accounting -  in Dublin, Ireland.  This is a Control Function role.

The Director of Accounting is responsible for the effective operation of the Western Union International Accounting teams in Ireland and various other jurisdictions including planning, execution, and resource management in line with the Western Union strategy.  The scope of the accounting activities includes general ledger, audited statutory financial statements, and regulatory compliance. This is a Control Function role. 

In addition, as WUPSIL CFO (a Pre-approved Control Function of the Central Bank of Ireland), the role includes responsibility for all Finance matters, including financial reporting, regulatory compliance (safeguarding of customer funds, capital adequacy), regulatory reporting, Board and Sub-Committee reporting, Management reporting, Legal entity financial planning, and oversight of outsourced Finance activities (settlement operations and accounting, Accounts Payable, Treasury, Tax Compliance, and Credit and Collections) 

Role Responsibilities 

  • Monthly General Ledger and Group reporting (USGAAP) and balance sheet reconciliations in line with Western Union policies, ensuring the accuracy of all financial information, and maintaining a best-in-class control environment. 
  • Statutory Financial statements (IFRS and Local GAAPs) and related audits for legal entities, as well as ensuring fiscal compliance (VAT returns etc) for entities under your responsibility. 
  • Board, Sub-Committee and Management Reporting for legal entities under your responsibility, including Financial Performance, Financial Position, Regulatory Compliance, Risks, Control Environment and Resourcing, and Outsourcing
  • Ensuring Regulatory Compliance for licensed entities for safeguarding of customer funds, capital adequacy and regulatory reporting 
  • Supporting the Business and other stakeholders on matters relating to the execution of Western Union’s strategy 
  • Plans and executes other related activities as assigned (e.g. M&A support, Capital Management etc) 

Role Requirements  

  • 8-10 years of professional experience in accounting or finance roles  
  • 5 + years of proven people management experience  
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principals and regulations 
  • Professional Accounting Qualification 
  • Expert knowledge of USGAAP and IFRS 
  • Excellence analytical and problem solving skills
