Full Job Description

The Fruit People has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Procurement Manager to join our team.  Responsible for ensuring that Procurement meets the needs of the business, this includes sourcing of all products (fruit, snacks, beverages, dairy, etc.), contracting agreements with suppliers at the right price, service level and quality, developing supply relationships, managing risks and improving supply performance. You will play a vital part in ensuring the continued success and growth of our business.

Our ideal candidate is innovative, driven, passionate, with excellent procurement experience and strong collaboration and communication skills.

Qualifications and Characteristics

  • 5 years, or more, experience in similar procurement leadership role.

  • Third Level Degree in a Business / Procurement / Food related discipline expected.

  • Food Business or similar FMCG experience favoured.

  • Team leadership capability.

  • Ability to build relationships with suppliers in a professional manner.

  • Strong negotiation and change management skills expected.

  • Highly numerate and analytical to identify improvement opportunities.

  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills including Excel to advanced level and deep experience with an ERP system and other appropriate purchasing tools.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Able to collaborate throughout the organisation and externally.

  • Solution orientated approach to problem solving.

  • Full clean driving license is a preferred requirement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and ensure supply performance to business needs.

  • Source, qualify and contract with suppliers to meet business standards of service, quality, and cost.

  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, service and process improvements.

  • Tender and negotiate with suppliers to ensure necessary quality, services and cost effectiveness for business needs.

  • Build relationships with suppliers, as necessary, for continued high standards.

  • Review and analyse current procurement approach, identify issues and opportunities for improvement. Develop the plan for advancement, agree with colleagues and implement improvements.

  • Work with colleagues to improve the ERP system for better efficiency.

  • Collaborate with sales and marketing colleagues to ensure the product range meets customer needs and stays ahead of key competitor offerings.

  • Monitor supply risks and develop contingency strategies to protect the supply chain.

  • Understand, align with business, and manage for sustainability in supply.

  • Lead and empower the activities of the Buyer role.

  • Ensure positive communication, coordination and collaboration with warehouse and inventory, logistics and management teams.

  • Introduce innovative ideas that enhance value, service or efficiency into procurement.

  • Monthly reporting on procurement performance, service achievement and supply issues.
