Full Job Description

Role: Risk Analyst, Capital and Recovery Risk, Financial Risk

Location: Dublin/Hybrid

This role is being offered on a permanent, full-time basis.

The Risk Function is an independent, second line of defence function that monitors, controls, and supports risk-taking activities across AIB.  The purpose of the Risk Function is to provide advice and guidance in relation to risk, while providing independent oversight and reporting on AIB’s risk profile.

About the Role:

The role is positioned within the Financial Risk team within the Risk Function, which provides second line Risk management and oversight for the key financial risks (excluding Credit Risk), generated through the evolution of the balance sheet, including interest rate, credit spread and other market risks, pension and equity related risks, funding and liquidity risks and capital adequacy risk.   The Financial Risk team is also responsible for the validation of all Financial Risk models deployed within the Group.

Financial Risk is recruiting a talented risk analyst to join the Capital and Recovery team, which provides second line oversight of the Group’s Capital and Recovery Planning, including providing independent review and challenge of the ICAAP and the Recovery Plan, capital plans and related initiatives (e.g., RWA efficiencies), internal stress testing, and any proposed capital actions/dividends.  We also provide second line challenge in relation to the Group’s Risk Based Pricing (RAROC) Framework, including changes to methodology and ongoing RAROC performance across business lines.

The role provides an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to broaden and develop their capital adequacy risk assessment and financial analysis skills in a dynamic team environment and will involve providing risk analyst support across all the Team’s key activities.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist us in our review and challenge of the capital stress testing outcomes, by analysing outcomes and the consistency of key assumptions.
  • Assist in our ongoing reporting and profiling to the Group’s Board.
  • Help us keep abreast of key industry and regulatory developments to understand the impact on the Group’s risk profile.
  • Assist in the preparation of concise and effective presentations for consumption by Senior Management, e.g., Group ALCO and Group and Board Risk Committees.

What you will bring:

  1. Minimum 2 years’ experience in banking, ideally in a Risk or Finance function, with experience in recovery and capital planning preferable.
  2. 3rd level qualification (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent), preferably in a business or finance related discipline.
  3. An analytical mind-set, with ability to draw out key messages/insights from financial and management reports or data.
  4. Commercial awareness and a broad interest in financial markets and economic trends.
  5. Strong verbal and written communication skills (incl. Microsoft office, incl. Excel and Powerpoint) with ability to communicate key messages concisely for senior audiences.
  6. Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a small team, with attention to detail, completing tasks to a high standard within agreed deadlines.
  7. A background in capital management, stress testing or ability to extract/analyse large volumes of data while not pre-requisites, would be considered positively.
