Full Job Description

 We are seeking an Operations Manager for our client, one of the largest industrial MRO suppliers. You will be responsible and accountable for the overall business development, growth and management of the assigned customer site. This encompasses profitable sales, cost savings initiatives, customer relationship management, leadership, direction of the Insite and any related staff, logistics, stock management and purchasing of items not supplied from national distribution centres.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Revenue Generation and Financial Performance:

Develop and deliver agreed contracts and services.
Manage preparation and follow-up of quotes.
Consolidate available business opportunities for conversion.
Deliver value proposition and achieve agreed cost-saving targets.
Complete monthly insite reports (including scorecards and leakage), ensuring all relevant functions report onsite activities and opportunities.
Proactive manage relationships with commercial and key accounts and credit control departments.
Relationship management:

Consistently deliver agreed levels of customer service.
Utilise internal management information to enhance reputation onsite.
Conduct face-to-face dealings with customers and align strategy with Field Sales Executive & Key accounts.
Develop a program for regular site involvement from technical specialists & key strategic suppliers to enhance reliability performance and achieve cost-saving targets.
Execute customer specific implementation plans.
Strive for continuous improvement programs to improve customer service levels.
Proactively develop process improvements aimed at improving customer service.
Handle Ad hoc customer service duties on an as-needed basis (e.g. 24 hour call out service) when necessary.
Establish and integrate yourself into the customers team.
Manage customer expectations and escalations.
Develop product knowledge and offer technical support across a wide range of MRO products.
Collaborate with strategic suppliers to introduce innovative products offering TCO benefits.
Purchasing, Logistics and Housekeeping:

Plan and manage stock in line with customer requirements and business targets.
Adhere to company stock management policies - e.g. perpetual inventory schedules.
Maintain stock in good saleable condition, retaining traceability (where applicable) and utilise company cards for purchasing where possible.
Negotiate and manage of the purchase of non-stock items to support the consolidation of available opportunities.
Proactively manage all customer VMI supplier store view, monitor and adjust stock levels to ensure optimal customer service.


QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

An understanding / experience of the MRO market, its drivers and key manufacturers in a range of its products.
Solid technical background / understanding of one or more relevant product areas.
Skilled at working effectively with cross functional teams in a matrix organisation.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong IT skills, including Word, Excel and K8 an advantage
Strong problem solving skills and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and get the job done.
Excellent commercial awareness, understanding all aspects of margin management and cost/benefit analysis.
Dynamic and energetic team player with passion for people.
Flexible, takes personal accountability and responsibility for delivering results.
Customer-centric, tenacious and outgoing - comfortable with travell and high levels of face to face customer interaction.
Excellent presentation skills and ability to adapt behaviour to the situations, i.e. the boardroom and engineers.
3+ years relevant experience.
