Chorus ( ) represents the flagship offering for Lilly ExploR&D. The Chorus team, with 22 years of history, is a virtual development organization that specializes in efficient clinical proof-of-concept and seeks to advance a portfolio of biotech sponsored new molecular entities from IND enabling to clinical signal seeking studies with speed and capital efficiency. Chorus manages assets across all therapeutic areas, including rare diseases. As a team of experienced drug developers, Chorus collaborates with a network of internal and external experts to devise clinical strategies, design protocols, and conduct clinical experiments.

Responsibilities:

Through the application of scientific and clinical expertise and relevant experience, the Chorus Sr. Director is responsible for leading a cross functional team of technical experts and representing the Chorus team throughout the lifecycle of clinical research trials which make up the Chorus portfolio. The Chorus Sr. Director will have deep drug development expertise and will serve as a global resource to lead delivery of the clinical program and support product success.  The role will include the direct supervision of others. The Chorus Sr. Director will also provide direction, leadership, and clinical research expertise to their staff. They will also model and reinforce Lilly and Chorus leadership behaviors and ensure career development of their cross-functional staff in Cork, Ireland. The Chorus Sr. Director will have deep portfolio expertise and will serve as a global resource to lead delivery of the Chorus capabilities. The role will include the direct supervision of a cross functional, multi-disciplinary team.

Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Chorus Clinical and Scientific Leadership:

  • Serve as a clinical research expert in drug development and clinical research.
  • Serve as an expert for Chorus book of work and associated asset development.
  • Contribute to the identification, prioritization, and assessment of collaboration opportunities.
  • Drive global solutions in conjunction within the broader Chorus team and across other business partners.
  • Ensure activities are executed in a manner consistent with established guidelines, best practices and in compliance with all appropriate regulations.
  • Contribute to Chorus strategy and innovation.
  • Interact and build relationships with external parties relevant to the conduct of the Chorus development organization.
  • Ensure that all activities of the medical team comply with current local and international regulations, laws, guidance’s (for example, FDA, ICH, CHMP etc.), Good Clinical Practices (GCPs), company standards, Lilly policies and procedures, company integrity agreements as applicable, and the Principles of Medical Research

People Management and Development:

  • Recruit, develop, and retain a scientific, medical and operationally capable workforce skilled and knowledgeable in clinical research.
  • Work with direct reports to set performance objectives and create development plans; evaluate performance and provide coaching.
  • Effectively create and manage an agile organization that continuously meets the needs of a changing portfolio.
  • Build an organizational culture that fosters inclusion and innovation.
  • Develop an organizational talent base that demonstrates judgment-based decision making, and provides leadership in clinical research and associated delivery.
  • Ensure flexibility of resources to manage changing portfolio staffing needs.
  • Creating a positive work environment to enable high performing teams.
  • Accountable for defining and implementing the staffing strategy for the Chorus team located in Cork, Ireland enabling Chorus portfolio delivery.

Enterprise Leadership:

  • Identify and drive shared learning across the Chorus organization and with other functional partners across LRL.
  • Enable a culture of continuous improvement to drive efficiency through process improvement, technology and automation, people skills, and shared learning.
  • Engage in the external global clinical research community to drive external environmental improvements and ensure external learnings are incorporated into continuous improvement efforts.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (e.g., PharmD, Masters or PhD) in a scientific or health related field and a minimum of 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and/or clinical research experience.
  • 5 years prior supervisory experience with experience being a leader of leaders.
  • Experience in, and/or leading different groups in drug development
  • Experience in, and/or leading different groups in drug development
  • Knowledgeable of local and international regulations, laws, guidance’s (for example, FDA, ICH, CHMP etc.), Good Clinical Practices (GCPs), and the Principles of Medical Research
  • Broad understanding of pharmaceutical drug development process
  • Strong administrative and leadership skills
