**A little more about your role.**
The Ireland Roads team is seeking a Principal Engineer with extensive post professional qualification experience in the design and project management of road schemes and active travel schemes to work in our Limerick (N/M20 Project office). The team is growing and offers excellent opportunities for the right candidate.
The successful candidate will lead and help grow a team undertaking concept, preliminary and detailed designs for major national road schemes including the N/M20 Cork to Limerick Project, Public Transport schemes (including Cork BusConnects and Metrolink) and active travel schemes for the National Transport Authority and Local Authorities.
The candidate will be involved in the project management and technical delivery of schemes from inception through to the handover of the completed schemes to the clients. This role will primarily be client-facing and the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record of delivery of schemes in either the local, regional or national transport arena.
+ Managing projects to ensure coordination and compatibility of multi-disciplinary inputs on projects of varying scale, complexity and value.
+ Liaising with our clients, developing strong trusted relationships, proactively managing their expectations and comprehensively advising them.
+ Undertake project technical lead and reviewer roles
+ Using your technical ability and experience to develop our staff
+ Prepare fee proposals and manage budgets for individual projects.
+ Be responsible for the development and delivery of discrete and overall project solutions;

**What we will be looking for you to demonstrate.**

+ Experience of contract document preparation or contract administration/site supervision using Public Works Contracts
+ A chartered member of a relevant engineering technical institution.

+ Good communication, client management and interpersonal skills are essential.

The right candidate shall be able to take on significant elements of design, either working on their own initiative with minimal supervision, or, by taking a lead role working within multi-discipline project teams. **Responsibilities:**
+ Project Management and provision of engineering expertise involving a range of multi-disciplinary infrastructure schemes of varying scale, complexity and value primarily within Ireland.

+ Technical input and design on roads, public transport and active travel projects, including:

**What we will be looking for you to demonstrate.**

In this role, you will participate in operations sourcing strategic activities, especially those involving product life cycle and supplier management including but not limited to product/part phase in-phase, last time buy/strategic and excess & obsolete processes, local sourcing related initiatives, supplier delivery performance and inventory management. You will also support commodity management in pricing, terms & conditions, and quality agreements with key strategic suppliers.
**A Day in The Life Of:**
+ Maintain and promote strong relationships with suppliers, Supplier Quality Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning, Finance, Quality, Commodity Management, and any other internal customers.
+ Provides project management and sourcing expertise to cross-functional, cross-divisional commodity teams.
+ Facilitates these teams in the development and execution of long-term strategies that will optimise Medtronic's position in terms of quality, cycle/response time, technology, risk, and total cost.
+ Use problem solving techniques/methodologies to identify supplier delivery root cause and achieve resolution of production continuity events.
+ Mitigates risk, leverages technology and purchase power, improves processes and systems, and reduces overall cost of ownership and acquisition.
+ Daily stand up at site production and tier meetings. Attend other staff meetings as needed.
+ Performs special projects as assigned including but not limited to: Lifecycle Management, supports material cost reduction initiatives (Price Point Variance).
+ Cash Flow Initiatives: Support the last time buy/strategic and excess & obsolete process and follow-up scrap disposition at sites and monitor.
**Key Skills & Experience**
+ Requires practical knowledge and demonstrated competence within job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
+ Requires a minimum Level 8 degree in a relevant discipline and minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
**Nice to have**
+ Level 8 Honors Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Materials Management or Supply Chain related field is preferred.
+ Experience in leading and influencing negotiations, project management, troubleshooting and problem-solving analysis, strategic thinking, and collaborative team building.
+ Solid computer skills: i.e., SAP, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project. Advanced Excel knowledge (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas, macros, etc.).

Responsible for providing manufacturing engineering services to support cellular manufacturing and timely new product introductions. Engineering services include process development, CNC programming, new production introductions and cost reduction. The candidate for this role will take the lead role in process improvement and cost reductions through productivity improvement and machine time reductions, including new tool and CNC product program development and testing.
**How You'll Create Impact**
+ Establishing CNC machining and other production methods which meet performance and quality requirements.
+ Sorting through options and choosing the most appropriate processes and machining methods.
+ Developing and programming a wide variety of applications, including machining and finishing processes.
+ Conducting feasability studies to estimate product cost and analyze captial equipment, capacity, and capability requirements affecting the make versus buy decision.
+ Writes instruction sheets and tool list to guide set-up and operation of the machining centers. Also assist in the training of production operators on the use of new CNC machine control and tools.
+ Establishing preliminary bill of materails and routers - establish optimal routings.
+ Negotiating target completion dates with appropriate personnel from other departments.

**What Makes You Stand Out**
+ Extensive knowledge and experience in multi-axis CNC milling programming (preference of 4th and 5th axis) and process development, Computer Aided Design Systems, Unigraphics 3-D modeling software and Direct Numerical Control (DNC) systems.
