The COIN Project (Control-Oriented Innovations for Future Ocean Energy Farms) is focused on advancing renewable ocean energy in response to climate goals and growing concerns over energy security and pricing. Position Summary The ML Engineer, part of the broader Retail Analytics Engineering department, supports the Price Value & Assortment Analytics organization in the development of AI/ML driven analytical solutions at scale. The ML Engineer will actively collaborate with Data Scientists to successfully optimize, and scale complex ML models & optimizer solvers that enable highly dynamic & sophisticated pricing and promotion strategies. The incumbent in this role will have the opportunity to work on challenging business problems leveraging cutting-edge technologies including Big Data, Distributed Computing, and Machine learning. Key job duties include: Partner with data scientists to train, optimize, scale and support AI/ML models. Translating functionality into scalable, tested, and configurable platform architecture and software. Ensure models are integrated into production systems with high reliability and performance. Design and conduct experiments to evaluate the performance of machine learning models. Iterate on models based on feedback and evolving business requirements. Build frameworks, reusable modules, and author best practices and standards to enable self-serve capabilities that enable data scientists to deploy solutions quickly and efficiently. Required Qualifications: 3+ years professional experience in implementing ML and Data Engineering at scale. 3+ years of experience with Python & SQL programming language. 3+ years' experience with working in Dev/ML Ops model and industry deployment best practices using CI/CD tools and infrastructure as a code (e.g., Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes). 3+ years of experience in building cloud native analytical solutions, either on Azure or GCP. 1+ years designing, implementing, and optimizing machine learning algorithms and models using open-source machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and XGBoost. 1+ years' experience in end-to-end ML implementation lifecycle including feature engineering, training, inference, model drift measurement, and model observability. 1+ years' experience in building data engineering pipelines, and metric aggregation layers. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in Retail domain with a strong functional understanding of product pricing and promotion strategies is a plus. Experience in Google Cloud platform including Big Query, Vertex AI. Hands-on experience working in scalable distributed computation frameworks like Spark or Dask. Overview
As a Lead AI Fullstack Engineer at Mastercard, you will be a pivotal force in designing, building, and deploying E2E AI/ML solutions. You will leverage your fullstack expertise to create intuitive user interfaces that bring AI insights to life, while also developing robust backend services and integrations that power our advanced AI models. Your work will directly enable the seamless delivery of AI capabilities, translating complex algorithms into tangible business value through user-centric applications
Key Responsibilities
Lead the complete lifecycle of AI-powered applications, from frontend user experience design and implementation to backend service development and integration with AI/ML models
Develop robust backend services and APIs that orchestrate AI/ML model training, inference, data pipelines, and monitoring. This includes building scalable data ingestion and processing components
Create and maintain engaging and functional user interfaces that allow users to interact with and derive insights from AI models and data, enhancing accessibility and usability
Design and implement high-performance APIs for both internal and external consumption, facilitating seamless communication between various components of the AI solution and other Mastercard systems
Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across the fullstack, from frontend responsiveness and user experience to backend service efficiency, data processing, and AI model inference
Provide technical leadership and guidance to the team, championing best practices in fullstack development, software architecture, and the operationalization of AI solutions. Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence
Work closely with data scientists, AI engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and deliver AI solutions that meet strategic business objectives
Implement and ensure adherence to Mastercard's security standards, data governance policies, and compliance requirements throughout all layers of the AI solution
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. Master's degree preferred
Experience: Minimum of 8+ years of experience in fullstack software development, with a significant focus on building and maintaining complex applications. At least 3-4 years of experience specifically on AI/ML-driven applications or integrating with AI/ML systems
Technical Skills:
Extensive experience with backend development frameworks (e.g., Node.js, Python/Flask/Django) and designing/implementing RESTful APIs
Strong proficiency in frontend technologies including React, Next.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
Experience with cloud platforms and their relevant services for compute, storage, databases, and networking
Proficiency with containerization technologies
Experience with CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment of fullstack applications
Familiarity with database technologies
Understanding of the AI/ML lifecycle and experience operationalizing machine learning models
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, drive cross-functional projects, and mentor team members within a fast-paced environment
