Medtronic's Cardiac Ablation Solutions division is searching for a Principal PD Project Management Specialist to join our Product Development team working on new catheter designs.
Cardiac Ablation Solutions is developing next generation medical technologies that treat patients with abnormal heart rhythms. Our technologies save lives and improves the quality of living for millions of patients across the world by advancing innovation for the diagnosis and ablation of cardiac arrhythmias and enabling clinicians to perform procedures with superior outcomes.
As a?Project Management Specialist,?you will be responsible for coordinating and supporting a range of new product development activities on large, moderately complex projects?You will work independently to implement strategic goals and establish operational plans, and coordinate with Project Management, R&D, Quality, Operations, Regulatory, and other functions to?deliver?products to our customers?
**Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.**
+ Develops and executes project plans, including schedules, budgets, and resources.
+ Ensures adherence to design control requirements.
+ Defines and negotiates project resource requirements.
+ Communicates project status and updates to stakeholders.
+ Manages project budgets and oversees capital expenditures.
+ Monitors the project from initiation through delivery.
+ Develops risk mitigation plans.
+ Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress.
+ Travels up to 25% of the time.
**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**
Requires a Level 8 Degree and minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
**Nice to Have**
+ Experience with ablation products and therapies (e.g., catheters, generators)
+ Strong understanding of medical device regulations (e.g., IEC 60601, IEC 62304, ISO 14971, ISO 13485)
+ Experience with Microsoft Project and ProChain scheduling methodologies
+ Skilled in organizing work for unstructured problems or execution tasks
+ Broad engineering knowledge across product development functions
+ Ability to effectively interface and communicate with employees at all organizational levels
+ Strength in working with cross-functional teams across facilities to solve problems
+ Ability to work independently and take the initiative on tasks
+ Exceptional influencing and interpersonal skills, negotiating, managing change, resolving conflict

We are currently recruiting a Project Engineer to support the management and execution of projects for a biopharmaceutical client in Cork. The Project Engineer will lead and support the execution of capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects at a biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Cork. This role involves managing the planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and qualification phases to deliver projects on time, within scope, and on budget, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards. Responsibilities Support or lead the end-to-end delivery of engineering CAPEX projects from concept to handover Develop detailed project scopes, objectives, schedules, budgets, and resource plans Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality, regulatory, and safety Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external engineering firms to develop design specifications, P&IDs, and layouts Ensure engineering designs meet GMP, safety, and environmental compliance requirements Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting during design, installation, and commissioning Prepare requests for proposals (RFPs) and evaluate supplier bids Manage vendor and contractor performance, ensuring adherence to technical specifications and project timelines Oversee the procurement of equipment, materials, and services required for project execution Supervise on-site activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality construction practices Develop and execute commissioning plans, including equipment testing, system integration, and performance verification Coordinate validation activities to meet GMP and regulatory requirements Monitor project budgets, track expenditures, and report on financial performance Identify and mitigate project risks, including scope changes and schedule impacts Prepare regular status updates, technical reports, and project documentation Ensure all projects adhere to local and international regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, EMA, OSHA) Promote and maintain a strong safety culture throughout all project phases Perform risk assessments and ensure proper permits are obtained Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or related field) 3-5 years of experience in project engineering, preferably in the biopharma, pharmaceutical, or related process industries Proven track record of delivering CAPEX projects within a GMP-regulated environment Strong knowledge of engineering principles, equipment, and systems used in biopharma manufacturing Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and CAD software Desirable: Master's degree or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodologies Knowledge of bioprocessing technologies, clean utilities, and automation syste ms

As required, responsible for formal communication to client, designers, contractors and others. Contribute to the development of Digital Project Delivery from a construction perspective. For assigned projects, establish PM Group CM teams and assure personnel are assigned as required to fulfil positions on our CM teams. Manages resource plans with regards to mobilisation/demobilisation to ensure assigned projects are adequately resourced and in line with PM Group commercial expectations. Reviews our CM Team performance with the Construction Manager and makes necessary adjustments to teams as required. oversight of Monthly CM project reports and reviews with PM Group Teams as required. Oversight of cost reports and ensures PM commercial performance meets the project objectives. Promote PM Group by demonstrating professionalism and efficiency, establishing credible client and local contact working relationships. Mentor and invest in career development of construction personnel where appropriate. Project the Company's image to clients, public and other third parties by ensuring effective liaison and harmonious relationships. Qualifications Demonstrated capability in Construction delivery within specialized industrial sectors. (Life Sciences, Food & Mission Critical) Professional Qualification in Engineering or Construction /Project Management desirable. 10+ year's professional experience. Proven track record in EHS Leadership Excellent knowledge and strong understanding of H&S statutory requirements. Good understanding of contractual models and supply chain capability. Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong influencing and negotiation skills. A demonstrated ability to communicate and influence at management and operation level.
