Basic Qualifications

Our team is responsible for achieving a world class uptime for our customers and drive to develop a fleet of buildings that emphasize security, safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness, while finding new ways to meet AWS's growing demand.
As a CSA Design Manager at AWS, you will lead designs for AWS DCs in our Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) geography and impact other projects around the world. As a DC CSA Design Manager, you will be part of a highly creative and efficient design team comprised of Architects, Engineers, and Designers tasked with solving problems and challenging the status quo. As a subject matter expert, you will have a direct impact on the design of prototypical DC facilities, provide technical guidance, solve large scale implementation issues, and be responsible for CSA design requirements.
Key job responsibilities
- Develop & maintain Basis of Design, prototype design, and template specifications for one of Civil, Structural or Architectural disciplines;
- CSA Design lead on Data Centre projects with the following duties:
- Prepare conceptual site master plan designs based on information available from the due diligence site assessments
- Establish capital project design budgets for existing region and new region deployment.
- Collaborating with AWS finance teams to prepare funding applications and secure funding
- Develop design and permitting schedule for the project based on AWS standard design periods and local permitting requirements
- Partnering and communicating with internal customers to establish project scope, schedule and deliverables
- Working in partnership with AWS Engineering leads to schedule project engineering resources and Create, review and release RFPs for engagement of external design vendor, including review bids and make recommendations
- As CSA Design lead on Data Centre projects will Manage our external design consultants through the design and construction process ensuring high standards of deliverables complete on schedule.
- Co-ordinate and manage the input of internal structural, architectural and civil engineers during design and at design deliverable review
- Co-ordinate and manage the input of permitting lead
- Coordinate with internal and external Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Fire and Cabling design engineers;
- Influence and manage deviations to the AWS reference design based on localisation and site specific and internal customer needs
- Creating and tracking metrics related to cost, quality and duration of design
- Collecting data from operations, construction and commissioning teams as designs are implemented.
- Create/maintain project documentation before, during, and after construction;
- Think outside of the box to find innovative solutions during design and during the construction to comply with local regulations and reduce costs without negative impacts on quality or reliability.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering & 5 years working experience with 3 years experience in design of industrial or mission critical facilities
- Experience co-ordinating design with MEP engineering disciplines and the design co-ordination required with MEP on industrial facilities.

+ Produce a comprehensive suite of design drawings for Grid and Primary substations.
+ Prepare technical specifications for Electrical plant and providing associated electrical designs for the substation upgrades, and new substations projects from 132kV up to an including 400kV.
+ Produce substation design feasibility reports, cost estimate, layouts, GA's as well as the preparation of plant specifications that include transformers, switchgear and battery systems.
+ Review designs produced by suppliers and client to ensure designs are technically compliant and in line with current legislation and policies.
+ Ensure designs are delivered in accordance with the contract to the satisfaction of the client and the specifications.
+ Undertake the role of CDM Designer and/or Principal Designer for developed HV and EHV projects.
+ Ensure that relevant Health and Safety risks and hazards are identified, made known to the project team and properly managed.
+ Attend site meetings to support any design or requirement change during project build
**What we will be looking for you to demonstrate.**
+ Minimum HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering
+ Experience of small, medium and technically complex new substation, retrofit or network reinforcement projects.
+ Proven experience in HV and EHV substation design (both AIS & GIS), from 132kV up to and including 400kV.
+ Knowledge of engineering standards and technical policies for HV and EHV plant, substations (including earthing and electrical clearances).
+ Exposure to substation cable design and protection and control.
+ Excellent understanding of the H&S and CDM requirements and an ability to undertake the role of 'Designer' and 'Principal Designer' under the CDM regulations.
+ Preferable - Attained / working towards chartered engineer status
+ Preferable - National Grid BP141 HV Plant Authorisaton

This role will be based in one of our **Cork sites.** Perform testing on medical device products and components using automated, semi-automated and manual methods. Follow test request protocols and report through mainly written but also verbally on the results of the tests. **Tasks and responsibilities may include:**
+ Together, with your Stryker team leader and college supervisor, **identify a process improvement project** along with project objectives, scope, success factors, milestones and evaluation metrics
+ Provide support to Research & Development, Advanced Operations and Global Quality Operations on the **development and verification testing** of new and existing products
+ Develop and coordinate **inspection and testing procedures** for prototypes, components and products

**Staff Mechanical Design Engineer, R&D**
**Permanent Hybrid role based in the Innovation Centre, Carrigtwohill**
**Role Summary:**
Join our innovative team as a Mechanical Design Engineer (R&D) to spearhead the development of a ground-breaking medical device aimed at tackling blood loss during medical procedures. As a Staff Mechanical Design Engineer, R&D, you will perform a wide variety of technical work in planning, design and implementation of mechanical design for medical devices used by surgeons and healthcare surgical staff to allow them to plan and perform their procedures. This role will be a key contributor to the mechanical design of embedded medical devices supporting our quantification of blood loss research.
**What you will do:**
Technical Responsibilities:
- Under minimal supervision, research, design, develop, modify, and verify components/modules for medical devices

- Develop and analyze solutions, prototyping one or more options to provide proof of concept
- Apply fundamental and some advanced concepts, practices and procedures for problem solving

- Learn how the financial models are constructed
Med Device Compliance:
- Follow fundamental industry standards, design requirements and test strategies which apply to regulatory requirements
- Independently create or refine engineering documentation, such as the Design History file
- Follow R&D procedure like design controls and risk management, per the Quality Management System
General Responsibilities:
- Under minimal supervision, work with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing and Project Management to ensure project success
