+ As a Sr. Principal engineer you will be an active technical leader in key new product development including the following: Design, Technology

**Key Skills & Experience**
+ Third Level 8 Degree or higher in Electronic, Electrical, Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering or related discipline and desirably with 10+ years' experience in a similar role.
+ This role is primarily technical in nature; thus we seek someone who is passionate about Engineering concepts and principles - someone who gets a thrill from how and why things work.
+ Must be a proven SME in equipment development, process development, process characterization and have a strong proven track record in innovation and project/ program management.
+ Must have excellent project management skills and a history of co-ordinating workload, including multiple complex process characterizations & equipment across a PD team at various levels.
+ Must have experience using DRM practices & Metrics such as PCX, WFX and participated in or led DFMA workshops.
+ Must be a seasoned professional in engineering development with extensive engineering knowledge and skills in some or all of the following: Concept development and selection, technology evaluation, driving innovative solutions to complex problems, process design and development, materials (polymers and metals), design for six sigma principles, CAD (Solidworks preferred), statistical techniques, process validation and control.
+ Good communicator and fluent in English, with a high level of enthusiasm and motivation.
+ Good organizational, presentation and project management skills are necessary.

+ Provide Design Assurance support to various OU Sustaining & product Surveillance initiatives.

**Key Skills & Experience**
+ Bachelor's degree (Level 8 NFQ) in a relevant technical discipline (e.g. Engineering, Mechatronics, Science) with a minimum 4 years relevant experience.
+ Dynamic team player working effectively and proactively on cross-functional teams.
+ Initiate and lead change, collaborate and create alignment, drive accountability, think critically and make sound decisions.
+ A good communicator and fluent in English, both in writing and speaking.
+ Experience in some form of technical writing beneficial.

+ Produce a comprehensive suite of design drawings for Grid and Primary substations.
+ Prepare technical specifications for Electrical plant and providing associated electrical designs for the substation upgrades, and new substations projects from 132kV up to an including 400kV.
+ Produce substation design feasibility reports, cost estimate, layouts, GA's as well as the preparation of plant specifications that include transformers, switchgear and battery systems.
+ Review designs produced by suppliers and client to ensure designs are technically compliant and in line with current legislation and policies.
+ Ensure designs are delivered in accordance with the contract to the satisfaction of the client and the specifications.
+ Undertake the role of CDM Designer and/or Principal Designer for developed HV and EHV projects.
+ Ensure that relevant Health and Safety risks and hazards are identified, made known to the project team and properly managed.
+ Attend site meetings to support any design or requirement change during project build
**What we will be looking for you to demonstrate.**
+ Minimum HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering
+ Experience of small, medium and technically complex new substation, retrofit or network reinforcement projects.
+ Proven experience in HV and EHV substation design (both AIS & GIS), from 132kV up to and including 400kV.
+ Knowledge of engineering standards and technical policies for HV and EHV plant, substations (including earthing and electrical clearances).
+ Exposure to substation cable design and protection and control.
+ Excellent understanding of the H&S and CDM requirements and an ability to undertake the role of 'Designer' and 'Principal Designer' under the CDM regulations.
+ Preferable - Attained / working towards chartered engineer status
+ Preferable - National Grid BP141 HV Plant Authorisaton

**Role Summary:**
Join our innovative team as a Mechanical Design Engineer (R&D) to spearhead the development of a ground-breaking medical device aimed at tackling blood loss during medical procedures.
