The Ireland Roads Team is seeking a Senior or Principal Engineer with extensive post professional qualification experience in the design and project management of road schemes and active travel schemes to work in either our Dublin or Limerick office. The team is growing and offers excellent opportunities for the right candidate.
The successful candidate will lead and help grow a team undertaking concept, preliminary and detailed designs for major national road schemes including the N/M20 Cork to Limerick Project, Public Transport schemes including Dublin Metrolink, Cork BusConnects and Active Travel schemes for the National Transport Authority and Local Authorities.
**A little more about your role.**
You will be involved in the project management and technical delivery of schemes from inception through to handover of the completed schemes to the clients. This role will primarily be client facing and the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record of delivery of schemes in either the local or national transport arena. The role is likely to include:
+ Managing projects to ensure coordination and compatibility of multi-disciplinary inputs on projects of varying scale, complexity and value.
+ Liaising with our clients, developing strong trusted relationships, proactively managing their expectations and comprehensively advising them.
+ Undertake project technical lead and reviewer roles
+ Using your technical ability and experience to develop our staff
+ Prepare fee proposals and manage budgets for individual projects.
+ Be responsible for the development and delivery of discrete and overall project solutions;
+ Lead and manage other staff members in the delivery of design drawings, standard construction details, specifications and bill of quantities, supporting the preparation of tender packages;
+ Responsible for compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation and inhouse quality assurance standards/processes;
**What we will be looking for you to demonstrate.**
+ Project management and technical delivery lead of Road or Public Transport/Active Travel schemes, with experience of Transport Infrastructure Ireland/National Transport Authority/Local Authority procedures essential.
+ Experience of contract document preparation or contract administration/site supervision using Public Works Contracts
+ A chartered member of a relevant engineering technical institution.
+ Experience or knowledge of alignment and drainage design software packages such as Civil3D/Open Roads/MX and WinDes preferred, but not essential.
+ Good communication, client management and interpersonal skills are essential.
+ Chartered Civil Engineer or an Incorporated Engineer with extensive post professional qualification experience
+ A thorough understanding and application of current design standards including; Urban Street and/or Active Travel Design (i.e. Design Manual for Urban Roads and Streets - DMURS, Traffic Signs Manual, Cycle Design Manual etc.), Highway Geometric Design (i.e. Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) Publications) and also TII and NTA Project Management Guidelines;

**Responsibilities:**

+ Technical input and design on roads, public transport and active travel projects, including:

+ Undertaking and supervising preparation of reports throughout a project lifecycle for roads and other infrastructure projects.

**What we will be looking for you to demonstrate.**
+ A degree in Civil Engineering or another appropriate subject.
+ Incorporated or Chartered Status (AMIEI/MIEI or equivalent) or equivalent demonstrable experience.
+ Can demonstrate clear and successful project management skills and technical competence in the field of roads engineering, and ideally on road schemes or public transport/active travel schemes.
+ Are able to demonstrate clear and successful liaison and co-ordination on multi-discipline projects and working knowledge of other disciplines' technical capabilities and requirements.

The successful candidate will lead and help grow a team undertaking flood risk assessments and drainage designs for the concept, preliminary and detailed design stages of the major national roads, motorways and active travel schemes including the N/M20 Cork to Limerick Road Improvement Scheme, public transport schemes and active travel schemes for the National Transport Authority and Local Authorities.
The right candidate shall be able to take on significant elements of design working on their own initiative with some support from the senior specialist in the relevant field. **Responsibilities:**
+ Work as part of an integrated team to deliver high quality engineering services for our clients.
+ Provide technical input to our cross sector multidisciplinary internal project teams supporting the delivery of transportation, commercial/residential development and environmental infrastructure projects.
+ Prepare technical reports and effectively communicate outputs to our clients.
+ Further develop and broaden the technical capacity of the flooding and drainage team.
+ Technical input and design on roads, public transport and active travel projects, including:
+ Undertaking road drainage systems and flood risk management measures designs using the relevant industry standard software.
+ Application of the Transport Infrastructure Ireland, National Transport Authority and other relevant standards
+ Developing and delivering design solutions including applications for Departures and Relaxations from Standards, etc, and ensuring all requisite approvals and consents are secured for projects.
+ Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work both independently and collaboratively.
+ Excellent technical reporting writing and review skills.
+ Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation and inhouse quality assurance standards/processes
**What we will be looking for you to demonstrate.**
The successful candidate will be degree qualified in civil engineering or another appropriate subject and be a member of an appropriate professional institution.
The successful candidate will be capable of working to tight project deadlines, work comfortably under pressure and have an open and honest approach. Evidence of good communication and team working skills will be sought.
Required and desired qualifications, experience and knowledge also include:-
+ A degree in Civil Engineering or another appropriate subject.A post graduate Level 9 Masters would be advantageous.
+ Incorporated or Chartered Status (AMIEI/MIEI or equivalent) or equivalent demonstrable experience.

+ Work as part of an integrated team to deliver high quality engineering services for our clients.
