Job Type Permanent Full-Time Category Location Naas Road, Dublin 12, Dublin City, County Dublin, Ireland Job Details Role Title: Assistant Director of Nursing in Role Location: Naas Road, Dublin 12 A full-time and permanent position has arisen within Vhi for an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) in Care @ Home ( ) is responsible for the provision of high quality and safe nursing service. The service incorporates the service and the Midwife Support Service. The role will be key in the strategic planning, design and delivery of the services. In time it is envisioned the scope of this role will expand to another service line also. The Assistant Director of Nursing will provide support to the Director of Nursing, ensuring excellence in patient care through a well-educated and highly motivated nursing team, and the effective and efficient use of resources. The post holder will provide professional leadership to nursing staff at all levels, fostering an enthusiastic, empowering, and committed work environment. They will support professional development, contribute to the development and implementation of nursing policies and strategies, and ensure the achievement of objectives. Additionally, they will proactively develop nursing roles in alignment with patient needs and Vhi Health & Wellbeing strategy. Benefits: Excellent company Pension Health Insurance Death in service Hybrid working environment Income Protection Role Purpose The ADON will work in partnership with the Clinical Director, Operations Manager and Service Manager of to develop the strategic direction of the services. They will ensure the service significantly contributes to the achievement of their service lines and effective governance arrangements are implemented and maintained. Provide leadership to the nursing teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration between all members. Work with the Clinical Director to ensure that the services provided are of the highest standard in accordance with our quality management framework. Maintain and comply with the quality accreditation programmes aligned to the service line. Promotes a culture which supports clinical audits within the nursing teams Works collaboratively with other professional leads to develop a culture which embeds clinical quality and patient safety, monitoring its effectiveness to ensure continuous improvement and operational excellence. Conducts investigations into complaints and adverse incidents with relevant directors as required. Prepare and submit management information in the format agreed including interpretation of data related to the services. Promote a style of leadership that develops and empowers staff, recognising achievements and providing support and assistance. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the nursing services, including staffing, resource allocation and scheduling in collaboration with the service manager and the CNM 3 (as appropriate). Works in partnership with the Clinical Director and Operational Manager to balance the challenges of providing high-quality, safe services with excellent outcomes, delivering efficiencies, and meeting the expectations of members. Manages nursing recruitment, retention, absenteeism, and professional development in collaboration with senior nursing team colleagues to ensure efficient and effective delivery of patient care. Provides and embeds mentorship, coaching, and supervision opportunities to support individual development. Ensure that all staff have a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities and the competencies expected to deliver a safe service. Develop and integrate nursing research capacity within the nursing team. Ensure own mandatory learning and training is kept up to date. Takes responsibility for issues outside the immediate sphere of responsibility as required. Be willing to expand their remit to include a different service line in due course. Deputise for the Director of Nursing when required. Education & Experience Be registered on the General Nurse Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI). MSc in Healthcare or Management related area or a commitment to complete. 7 years post registration experience within the last 9 years. Minimum of 4 years' experience at CNM II level or above. Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development.
