Key Duties and Responsibilities The post holder will provide clinical & professional nursing leadership of the clinical informatics services in critical care to ensure the safe, efficient evidence based running of those services. The role of the CNM II Informatics is to: Provide efficient and effective management of the Clinical Information System (CIS) in such a way as to provide a safe environment for patients and staff, while making the best use of resources. Promote collaboration within the multidisciplinary team. Engage with key stakeholders to ensure hygiene standards are maintained for patients, staff and visitors. Proactively manages quality and safety standards at local and directorate level. The Clinical Nurse Manager II must adhere to Code of Professional Practice and Behaviours for registered nurses. Shows leadership potential to make an impact, influence, energise and inspire others across the directorate and pan organisation. Embraces change and acts to implement evidence based best practice where appropriate. Is aware of and understands the need to adhere to hospital and/or professional standards, policies and procedures, relevant to their area of practice. Communicates effectively in English language, written and spoken, as appropriate to job requirements. Manage MDT CIS user access, set up & training. Provide user support & troubleshooting re: hardware / software issues on an ongoing basis to provide swift identification of issues that may affect unit documentation. Perform preventative maintenance, surveillance of CIS performance, backups & contingency plan to ensure the CIS is available 24/7. Provide staff with an accessible operational contingency in the event of CIS downtime. Configure, validate and implement changes to the CIS to meet practice development and unit requirements for administrative, clinical and pharmaceutical documentation. Ensure all interfaces are functioning and providing data to the CIS 24/7. Ensure that external interfaces are operational to provide the hospitals EPR system with essential critical care documents on patient discharge and the NOCA critical care audit system with defined automated data. Ensure that associated linked CIS reports are available for staff as required and are up to date. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and maintain close working and influencing relationships to manage issues affecting the functioning of the CIS. Manage system upgrade coordination as required while ensuring that system disruption is kept to an absolute minimum. Provide local users and the wider hospital community with validated activity statistics / audit reports for planning, research, quality initiatives and auditing of the critical care service, reporting in a timely manner on a scheduled (quarterly / annual) and ad-hoc basis in response to service needs. Promote the value of the rich database of patient data available for use for research and to assist staff in this capacity by retrieving and validating essential data in a timely manner. Engage with staff at all levels in particular practice development to retain the dynamic CIS configuration in response to the constantly changing critical care environment. Participate in quality improvement, audit and research initiatives across critical care areas. Be cognisant of the potential for a surge in critical care capacity and have plans in place to deal with this in a swift and timely manner.
