Scope of the Role: The Project Controls Analyst will work as part of an experienced Project Controls team at Group Level across all projects and will also work closely with the Business Units Senior Management & Commercial Teams.
By joining our Group Project Controls team, you'll play a key role in shaping financial strategies, reporting across high-profile projects, and influencing commercial outcomes at the highest level.
The Project Controls Department is integral in overseeing the project's cost management strategy, aligning with the organisation's financial requirements, and ultimately contributing to the overall business success.
You will be responsible for collating and analysing all commercial data associated with projects and identifying any risks or opportunities.
The role is 4 days a week in our head office, with occasional visits to our sites across Europe.

Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with the Project Controls team across all live projects Analyse project commercial data and generate actionable insights Prepare group-wide summary reports for Executive Management Review monthly submissions from project teams for accuracy and trends Support quarterly forecasts of revenue and profitability Produce cost performance reports (weekly/monthly) on request Engage regularly with Business Units to strengthen commercial alignment Essential Criteria: Minimum 3 years' experience in cost control, commercial admin, or QS support Strong MS Excel, Word, Outlook skills Experience handling high volumes of commercial data Clear communicator with excellent written and verbal skills Highly organised, deadline-driven, and solutions-focused Desirable Criteria: Quantity Surveying background or experience in a similar role Knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems (training provided) Familiarity with analytical tools like Power BI Construction or engineering sector experience Motivated to learn, improve processes, and grow with the business Mercury is an equal opportunities employer

This role offers the chance to work on high-profile projects across the commercial, industrial, and educational sectors.
The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative team and will play a key role in the tendering and pre-construction process.
Role & Responsibilities: Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
Prepare accurate cost estimates covering labour, materials, plant, & subcontractor packages.
Manage and deliver tender submissions to agreed deadlines.
Assess project risks and opportunities from a cost perspective.
Source, evaluate, and negotiate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and supply chain partners to ensure competitive rates.
Work closely with Commercial and PMs to ensure estimates/ cost plans are aligned.
Attend meetings with clients, consultants, and design teams when required.
Contribute to value engineering exercises and propose alternative construction solutions.
Prepare clear project handover documentation once tenders are secured.
Provide cost and procurement advice to the project team during early stages.
Requirements: Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a similar discipline.
At least 5 years experience working as an Estimator in the construction industry, ideally on commercial projects.
Advanced analytical and numerical ability with excellent attention to detail.
Experience using estimating software (such as Buildsoft, Cubit, or Causeway), along with Microsoft Excel and COINS.
Strong communicator with the ability to negotiate effectively.
Capable of working to deadlines in a busy team environment.
