Job Title: Electrical Engineer - Electrical Design & Schematic Drafting Location: Carlow, Ireland Job Type:Full-Time, Permanent Reports to: Electrical Lead Engineer Cental is a global supplier of pre-fabricated modular and skid mounted solutions to the Data Centre, Oil & Gas, Utility, and Life Sciences markets. Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong background in electrical design and schematic drafting to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and reviewing electrical systems and schematics for a range of industrial and commercial projects. This role requires precision, creativity, and strong technical expertise in electrical engineering principles, CAD-based design, and compliance with industry standards. Key Responsibilities: Electrical Design & Drafting Develop detailed electrical designs and schematics for power distribution, control systems, and automation projects. Produce accurate wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, and control panel layouts. Use industry-standard CAD/ECAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar) to create and update technical drawings. Ensure designs meet project requirements, client specifications, and applicable codes and standards. Technical Engineering Duties Perform electrical load calculations, cable sizing, and equipment selection. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical systems with mechanical, civil, and architectural designs. Conduct design reviews and implement revisions based on feedback from clients, engineers, and project managers. Provide technical input during procurement, manufacturing, and installation stages. Project Management & Collaboration Liaise with clients, suppliers, and contractors to clarify technical requirements. Support project scheduling, cost estimation, and material selection for electrical works. Ensure timely delivery of design documentation in line with project milestones. Compliance & Quality Ensure all designs comply with relevant IEC, BS, or other applicable standards. Conduct design risk assessments and adhere to safety regulations. Maintain quality control processes for drawings and documentation. Qualifications & Skills Essential: Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline. 510 years of professional experience in electrical design and schematic drafting. Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or equivalent ECAD software. Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, power distribution, control systems, and automation design. Experience with electrical calculations, cable sizing, and equipment selection. Understanding of relevant electrical standards (IEC, BS, EN, etc.). Strong attention to detail and accuracy in design documentation. Desirable: Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it). Experience in low voltage (LV) and extra-low voltage (ELV) systems. Knowledge of PLC/automation integration in electrical designs. Experience with BIM/Revit MEP for electrical services. Personal Attributes Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
