Reporting to the VP, Global R&D of embecta, the Vice President, Strategic Innovation will serve as a key member of the Global R&D leadership team, responsible for shaping the future of embecta's product innovation strategy. This role will lead the creation and execution of a high-impact R&D function focused on the development of next-generation drug delivery systems such as Pen Injectors and Auto Injectors.
The individual must thrive on applying innovative scientific problem-solving skills to product development, and work in an interactive and collaborative development environment where overcoming technical challenges is routine.
The Vice President, Advanced Design and Engineering must possess a complete understanding of a wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the fields of Medical Device Product Development.
As a senior member of the Global R&D organization, an externally facing presence interfacing with the leaders in the diabetes industry is also expected.
**_RESPONSIBILITIES:_**
+ Establish and lead a new world-class Advanced Design and Engineering organization, to drive internal or external development of new products such as pen injectors and auto injectors.
+ Evaluate and understand the current market landscape of pen injectors and auto injectors, their strengths and weaknesses and associated opportunities for embecta.
+ Ensure design excellence by embedding a design for high volume Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles into all product development efforts.
+ Follows design, quality, and safety guidelines based on GMP, FDA, and ISO guidelines and related embecta Quality and Safety Standards and Practices.
+ Leads and motivates a lean, high performing team in the development of new products that increase revenue for embecta with a short payback period and quick launch windows.

**_EXPERIENCE &_** **_EDUCATION:_**
+ Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, advance degree in a complementary subject (such as Business) is preferred.

About the Role

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Set-up, implement and deploy innovative solutions that leverage the latest advancements in technology to enhance clinical trial recruitment and innovate trial operations. For solutions deployed in a trial, these will be in line with the Operational Execution Plan (OEP) and implemented in close collaboration with the CTT and maintaining oversight post-deployment with the Portfolio Innovation Director.
  • Lead cross-functional team and vendors to deliver innovative clinical trial solutions in line with time, cost, and quality expectations.
  • Conduct and/or organize vendor kick off meetings, design reviews, User Acceptance Testing and lessons learned as well as review content of vendor deliverables (e.g., User Requirements Specifications) for innovative solution vendors in partnership with Vendor Management.
  • Proactively identify and address potential roadblocks, risks and/or issues and applies a continuous learning approach to drive improvements in innovative solutions based on input from early adopters and/or gap analysis.
  • Develop and review content in key trial related documentation where there is no precedent (e.g., protocol, ICF, clinical trial application cover letters, investigator meetings, site, and patient training materials) for innovative solution in collaboration with Portfolio Innovation Director, CTT and vendors.
  • Responsible to ensure consultation and buy-in, as necessary, of cross-functional experts of the Innovation Network (e.g., Regulatory, Quality, Legal, Data Privacy) in the trial specific delivery of the innovative solution.
  • Develop and manage new processes where no process or precedent exists in collaboration with the Innovation Capability Head, while maintaining compliance with current regulations (both internal and external).
  • Contribute to the co-creation of success criteria, guidance, processes, and templates for implementation at scale with future solution owners (e.g., Vendor Management).
  • Support identification of emerging technologies and external trends for their focus area to ensure GCO continues to leverage best in class innovative solutions.
  • Member of Innovation team that has end-to-end visibility on innovation pipeline and ensures continued learning & scalability assessment for more effective technology adoption.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences/healthcare
  • 5+ years of clinical trial innovation and/or solution delivery experience in innovation focus area (clinical trial recruitment and innovative trial operations)
  • 7+ years of experience in pharmaceutical clinical drug development
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience in programming and data analysis e.g. R, Python
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing technology solutions, including AI, in life sciences and knowledgeable on application of different AI models to solve business problems
  • Led strategy development and effectively translated into the development and implementation of projects/programs within a complex matrix environment

Marsh McLennan, the world's leading professional services firm in risk, strategy and people, is looking for a "Lead Solution Architect for Innovation & Services" to join the Global Technology Engineering & Enterprise Architecture team (TE2A). We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Solution Architect to join our newly formed strategic cutting-edge Innovation Center and Business & Client Service teams. In this role, we will rely on you to provide visionary technical leadership ensuring the best approaches (both AI and traditional) are being leveraged as well as always being on the lookout for how we can apply new technologies or techniques to drive excellence and further accelerate our development. This is a senior-level individual contributor role bringing ideas into reality with our agile teams. The ideal candidate will be deeply technical, have a proven track record of delivery, architecture guidance and the ability to find effective solutions to complex challenges. The Technology Engineering & Enterprise Architecture (TE2A) group is responsible for leading the development and maintenance of business aligned technical strategies that reduce technical debt, accelerate delivery and drive innovation across the entire Enterprise. What can you expect: As a member of the Global Technology Engineering & Enterprise Architecture team (TE2A), you will join a group of highly experienced senior individuals who provide technical leadership, establish designs and deliver the best solution approaches collaboratively with teams. This highly selective group is now further enriching its effectiveness with the introduction of the "Lead Solution Architect for Innovation & Services" role. We will count on you to: Provide Technical Leadership for numerous agile dev teams. Partner with Technical Leaders across Innovation and the Business. Develop the overall architecture of applications and shared components. Ensure the best approach/technology is being leveraged. Incorporate reuse, standardisation and security-by-design into your solution designs to simplify, secure and accelerate technology delivery. Ensure alignment with Enterprise Technical Strategy and Standards. Work with the agile teams to ensure the implementation aligns with the Design. Support diagnosis of incidents and problem management. Provide architectural direction and ongoing guidance throughout the full agile lifecycle. Leverage strategic or emerging technologies. What you need to have: Passion for technology and always looking to understand the next big thing. 5+ years' Application or Solution Architecture experience designing cloud-based applications and microservices. Master's degree in computer science, Information Technology (or similar working experience). Extensive software development experience (Node, Python, .Net, Mongo, SQL, React, Angular, Kubernetes, Serverless). Strong foundation in Cloud core concepts and Modern Development approaches. Delivery focused approach and an appetite for change. REST API and Shared Services Principles. Ability to operate at scale and with senior stakeholders. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively with technical peers across MMC. Strong technical background and can engage in deep technical discussions, effectively summarise, and contribute. The Head of B2B Sales Technology & Innovation is responsible for shaping and delivering the technology vision that powers the B2B sales Practice and its execution. This leader defines strategic priorities and the technology roadmap, oversees internal product development and external tech partnerships. He/she works in collaboration with operational teams to educate and guide technological options and support deployment. The role requires close collaboration with operations, innovation, sales & AM, marketing, IT and GPO, as well as external vendors to ensure technology investments align with business goals and deliver measurable impact.
**What you will do in this role**

1. Priorities and Roadmap Definition
+ Develop and maintain a comprehensive technology roadmap for B2B sales, aligning with broader business objectives and sales strategies
+ Define and prioritize technology initiatives based on business value, feasibility, and resource availability.
+ Define internal development needs vs. external tech partnerships priorities
+ Set clear goals, milestones, and deadlines for technology adoption and improvements, ensuring transparent progress tracking and accountability
+ Collaborate with stakeholders across sales, customer success, GPO and IT to gather requirements and ensure alignment with organizational needs
2. Internal Product Development
+ Lead internal product teams to design, build, and continuously improve identified top priority B2B sales tools for internal development
+ Prioritize user experience by gathering feedback from internal sales teams, iterating on features, and ensuring solutions are intuitive and drive productivity
+ Establish feedback loops, monitor usage data, and identify areas for enhancement to maximize adoption and impact
+ Ensure internal tools are scalable, flexible, and aligned with long-term business goals
+ Overcome challenges such as resource constraints, resistance to change, and integration with systems through effective change management and communication
3. External Technology Scouting, Assessment, Selection, and Onboarding
+ Continuously scan the market for innovative technologies that can enhance B2B sales processes and outcomes.
+ Assess and compare external solutions, identifying use cases to solve and conducting pilot programs and ROI analyses to inform selection decisions
+ Lead the onboarding and integration of chosen technologies
+ Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to ensure favorable terms and ongoing support
4. Technology deployment oversight
+ Enable and work alongside the AM, operations and innovation teams to identify 1/ the business problems to address 2/ the technology solution best fitted for the needs
+ Support them in the testing and deployment of agreed technological solution (AM & operations team accountable for deployment)
+ Work alongside innovation team to define and track B2B sales technology deployment and opportunities
5. B2B Sales Technology enablement & thought leadership
+ Enable and work alongside the AM, operations and innovation teams to identify 1/ the business problems to address 2/ the technology solution best fitted for the needs; and support them in the testing and deployment of agreed technological solution (AM & operations team accountable for deployment)
+ Develop tech thought leadership and enablement materials - enable the teams internally to pitch B2B sales tech solutions; and develop content for external communication on our solutions and our tech point of view
