Working both at the companies Workshop and on-site at Client facilities you will manage the Installation, Maintenance, Training, and up-keep on a range of Equipment. You will ideally be coming from a Medical / Scientific Equipment background, but I am open to considering all relevant experience in electronic and mechanical system troubleshooting. The role involves dealing directly and closely with device operators, their managers, manufactures technical departments and the sales teams. You will investigate faults and the approval and sign off documentation and checklists certifying the correct functioning of devices and systems. Application support and the provision of customer operational and maintenance training is a key element of the role. The field service engineer serves as the company liaison with customer on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects. This role reports directly to the Engineering manager. Duties and Responsibilities: Fault finding, service and repair of Medical, Lab and Life Science Equipment Organising and scheduling service and repair calls Updating IT service and repair system Requisitioning spare parts with procurement team Attending training courses and refresher training as required (Mostly abroad) Review of process and equipment maintenance documentation and SOPs as necessary Carry out all activities in compliance with company, EHS & regulatory requirements Participate in Cross-Functional teams, as necessary Ensure compliance with all quality, health & safety, company, and customer site regulations Work in accordance with Work Instructions, Safe Working Practices and Method Statements ensuring relevant paperwork is completed in an accurate timely manner Attend internal & external training courses Conduct on-site installation of complex equipment and follow testing procedures to ensure proper working order Conduct on-site scheduled, planned Preventative Maintenance visits Provide troubleshooting and repair support for customers and other field service personnel. Including out of hours telephone support Travel, often on short notice, to customer sites to resolve problems or support other field service personnel Complete and submit field service reports Provide training for customers and users on system maintenance. Working Hours: This role requires overnight customer visits. This is a hands-on, technically challenging role ideal for an experienced mechanical engineer who enjoys precision design, collaboration, and seeing their work make a real-world impact.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Design and develop mechanical tooling, fixtures, and assembly equipment to support advanced medical device manufacturing.
Create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using CAD (preferably SolidWorks).
Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and product development teams to ensure seamless integration of new equipment and processes.
Participate in design reviews, technical problem-solving, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Liaise with external vendors, suppliers, and equipment manufacturers to ensure quality and timely delivery of components.
Support the validation and qualification of new equipment and processes as required.
3+ years of mechanical design experience, ideally in tooling, fixtures, or automation within a medical device or regulated manufacturing environment.

This role will be based in our **Limerick site.** Perform testing on medical device products and components using automated, semi-automated and manual methods. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Apply quality engineering expertise across the Quality Management System (QMS).
Support certification and maintenance of compliance to ISO 13485 and 21 CFR Part 820.
Assist with design assurance activities, including design controls, verification, and validation.
Support development and validation of test methods and computer system assurance programs.
Participate in risk management and usability engineering activities.
Maintain document control through QT9 eQMS and perform related administrative tasks.
Contribute to the CAPA and non-conformance (NC) investigation and resolution process.

Support updates and gap assessments for applicable regulatory standards and guidance.
Participate in supplier quality management, vendor evaluation, and AVL maintenance.

Experience in both FDA and European regulatory environments is preferred.
Strong initiative, problem-solving, and follow-through in executing responsibilities.
Understanding of risk management methodologies (ISO 14971).
Experience with sterilization (EtO/Gamma), biocompatibility, and transportation testing is a plus.
Prior involvement in audits or inspections is an advantage.
Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with electronic QMS tools.
