Product Development Engineer – Medical Device Industry

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Product Development Engineer to join a fast-paced and innovative medical device team. This role is central to the design, development, and optimization of next-generation medical technologies, involving both hardware and software components. You will work cross-functionally to bring products from concept through to commercialization, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and a strong focus on patient outcomes.

Responsibilities Include but are not Limited to:

  • Lead product development activities from design and prototyping to testing, validation, and market launch.

  • Collaborate with Operations, QA/RA, Technical Support, and Commercial teams to ensure smooth and compliant product development.

  • Partner with Product Management to define product strategies and technical requirements aligned with business goals.

  • Define design inputs, conduct feasibility studies, and contribute to the development of technical documentation including design history files and technical files.

  • Work on embedded systems, firmware, and software development to support fully integrated device functionality.

  • Conduct risk assessments and support the implementation of risk management strategies.

  • Optimize designs for manufacturability, scalability, and performance.

  • Manage the full product development lifecycle and ensure adherence to regulatory and quality requirements.

  • Participate in design reviews and prototype evaluations, offering technical guidance across departments.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve product issues during both development and post-market stages.

  • Degree in Engineering (Biomedical, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related discipline).

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in product development, preferably in the medical device sector or a closely related field.

  • Strong experience with embedded systems, firmware, and software development.

  • Proven background in taking medical devices from concept to market launch.

  • Solid understanding of design controls, validation, and regulatory compliance (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485).

  • Proficient in both hardware and software product design, prototyping, and testing.

  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, manufacturing processes, and materials.

  • Familiar with risk management techniques (e.g., FMEA) and regulatory documentation practices.

  • Skilled in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD), MATLAB, C/C++, Python, and embedded platforms.

+ Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
+ Identifying and forming strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. Obtaining agreement and signoffs on all objectives and milestones with the stakeholders.
+ Proactively assessing and managing (a) appropriateness of solutions and (b) risks across all regions / products / work streams. Ensuring timely escalation and mitigation of the risks to avoid impact to the project delivery.
+ Participation in client presentations and demos and engages in RFPs and solutioning of new technical initiatives.
+ Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to department initiatives to implement process enhancements.
**What we'll need from you:**
+ Excellent experiences to effectively partner with Product, Operations, Technology to resolve issues, also involve interactions with AML, Compliance Assurance and Internal Audit
+ Excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate and persuade colleagues across disparate businesses, regions and cultures?
+ Demonstrated excellence at identifying stakeholders, understanding needs, and driving decision- making/resolution in a collaborative approach which includes vetting/troubleshooting?
+ Well-developed listening skills and a strong ability to engage at the senior management level?
+ Ability to understand and operate successfully in a complex, heavily matrixed environment?
+ Role also involves interaction with Global Teams spread across the Globe Use of existing knowledge of Payment Systems in Citibank
+ Candidates should have experience in Banking and Financial Services Domain, including Retail, Investment Banking, Banking Payments such as High Value Domestic /Cross Border, Domestic Low Value Payments, SEPA CT, SWIFT MT and ISO 20022 XML Messages Understand the Travel Rule/FATF/Consent Order regulatory requirements and expectations
+ ISO20022 experience is must.
+ Candidate should have handled large scale implementations
+ Candidates should be well versed with Citi Policies & Procedures, Tools such as PTS (Project Tracking System), PAT (Process Automation tool), JIRA, Confluence Page, and Share points.
+ Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially Masters degree
