Job Description
Company Description
Glass is a platform designed to bridge divides in politics and support informed decision-making for local and national representatives. It empowers users to have their voices heard by suggesting and voting on local and national issues while recommending politicians who align with their views. For politicians, Glass offers a space to vote and post on issues with explanations, grow their following, and communicate with constituents. Our goal is transforming political engagement for stronger communities.
Role Description
This is a unique, on-site internship role for someone who wants to be at the heart of a tech startup aiming to change Irish politics. The company is in its very early stages and you will be working in a small but growing team. We plan to have a demo test in the next few months to gain feedback from a first set of users in a limited area (Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown).
Your primary mission will be to help launch and grow our pilot program in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown. You will be instrumental in solving a "chicken-and-egg" by simultaneously onboarding the first politicians and public users. This is a hands-on role where you will gain experience in community building, political outreach, digital marketing, and startup operations.
This is an unpaid internship to begin with, but we are actively seeking funding. We offer a valuable equity stake in the company, academic credit (if applicable), and a foundational role with massive learning and growth potential. If we're successful in our mission you'll be able to say "I built and ran the marketing campaign for Glass growing it from 0 to over a hundred thousand users"
Daily tasks will also include:
- Politician & Organisation Outreach: Researching and directly contacting local councillors, TDs, and community groups to onboard them onto the Glass platform.
- Community Building: Executing grassroots marketing strategies to attract and onboard initial public users from the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown area.
- Content & Social Media: Helping to create and schedule engaging content for social media channels (Instagram, Twitter/X, local Facebook groups) to build buzz.
- User Support & Feedback: Being the first point of contact for our initial users, gathering their feedback, and identifying bugs or improvements for the app.
- Administrative & Research Support: Assisting with grant applications, funding research, and other operational tasks crucial for a pre-launch startup.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Political Science, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Business, or a related field.
- Excellent design skills, comfortable using Canva & Figma.
- A keen interest in Irish politics and community engagement is essential.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – you are comfortable and professional when emailing and calling politicians and the public.
- Proactive and self-motivated with a "get-things-done" attitude. You see a problem and find a way to solve it.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Familiarity with social media platforms.
- Bonus: Experience with community organising, campaigning, or customer-facing roles.
