As part of the FINEOS Cloud Infrastructure Automation (CIA) team, the Senior DevOps Engineer will be primarily responsible for automation design, automation engineering, configuration, optimization, documentation, and support of the infrastructure components of FINEOS Cloud (AWS) as well as internal automation support to the FINEOS Product Engineering teams.In addition to core DevOps responsibilities, this role places a strong emphasis ontest automation —particularly the ability to design, implement, and maintain automated tests for scripting languages such asAnsible, Python, TypeScript, and Jenkins pipelines . The ideal candidate will have a proven background intest strategy implementation within anAgile SDLC. Key success criteria for this role will be the ability to align infrastructure as per company standards and security requirements with repeatable, automated processes to provide world class customer service to FINEOS Cloud hosted clients and internal teams.

Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Design and implement automated testing frameworks for infrastructure automation scripts (e.g., Ansible, Python, TypeScript, Jenkins).
  • Define and execute test strategies aligned with Agile development practices, ensuring high-quality infrastructure code delivery.
  • Integrate test automation into CI/CD pipelines and ensure test coverage across infrastructure components.
  • Participate in the road mapping and planning of automation solutions.
  • Provide technical skillsets for DevOps related projects and be involved in technical planning and / or execution activities.
  • Design and engineer reusable solutions for rote tasks.
  • Anticipate, identify, mitigate, and resolve issues relating to client facing infrastructure.
  • Monitor, analyze, and predict trends for system performance, capacity, efficiency, and reliability and recommend enhancements to better meet client SLAs and standards.
  • Practice configuration management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation per FINEOS policies and procedures.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of the systems and applications, including review system and application logs and verifying the completion of schedule jobs.
  • Remain informed on regional laws, trends and issues, including current and emerging technologies and best practices, ensuring this knowledge is communicated and shared with the team and managers as appropriate.
  • Mentor junior members of the team to contribute to solutions and produce high quality code.

Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum of 5+ years post qualification experience in a software engineering role with exposure to the full SDLC, preferably on enterprise scale systems.
  • Strong experience in test automation for infrastructure code and scripting languages
  • Familiarity with test management platforms such as X-Ray, Zephyr, or TestRail.
  • A relevant third level qualification or equivalent commercial experience.
    Infrastructure-as-code experience (CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible).
  • Strong background in Continuous Integration, and build automation tools such as but not limited to Ansible, Gradle, Jenkins, Subversion, GIT, Ant, Ivy, and Cloud Formation as well as virtualization and containerization technologies (Docker)
  • Exposure to deploying applications on Java EE applications servers (JBoss, Websphere, Weblogic or Tomcat)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills
  • Proven excellent technical problem-solving capabilities.

Technical Skills

  • Familiarity & Understanding of Networking concepts like Routing, SNMP, Web Application Firewalls, Load Balancing, and VPN
  • Operations role experience (Sys Admin, Sys Engineer, IT Support)
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer OR Solution Architect OR SysOps Administrator desired but not required.
  • Proficiency in using AI tools to enhance work processes and support informed decision-making is essential, with strict adherence to the organisation’s security, data protection, and ethical use policies.

Language Skills

  • Ability to speak the English language proficiently, both verbally and in writing.

AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations - from foundational services such as Amazon's Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS's services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you'll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS. Within AWS UC, Managed Operations engineers engage with AWS customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.
Eligibility requirement
* Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
* Successful applicants must have the legal right to work in Ireland
* Amazon will provide relocation support for successful applicants relocating within the European Union.
* This position involves On-call responsibility.
A day in the life
Embark on a week filled with meaningful contributions to the operation and improvement of significant software systems. You dedicate a substantial portion of your time to carefully review the operational health of services within your team's responsibility. In the process, you diligently identify anomalies and craft actionable bug reports, aspiring to enhance the overall efficiency and performance of your systems.
In addition to these responsibilities, you offer constructive feedback on change management documents and work earnestly to address your team's operational backlog. Through a collaborative effort, you strive to navigate challenges and ensure the seamless functionality of your systems. Additionally, you engage in the development and testing of scripts, hoping to provide practical solutions to enhance your workflows.
Beyond the technical aspects, you assume a role as an educator, sharing insights on the complexities of the European Sovereign Cloud with service teams. It's a humbling experience for you to contribute to the collective knowledge of the team, fostering a culture of mutual understanding.

Basic Qualifications
- Experience supporting cloud systems or other services. Proficient troubleshooting and anticipating problems that affect the performance, reliability, or availability of software systems
- Proficient executing standard operating procedures and following operational best practices
- Knowledge of scripting processes in a language such as Bash, Python, or Ruby or coding software applications in a modern language such as Java, TypeScript, or similar

- Experience working cross-organizationally and leading strategic team efforts requiring work from multiple team members
- Experience performance tuning software applications and optimizing fleet utilization

Basic Qualifications
5+ years of systems engineering experience, working with hardware, software, networking, operating systems.
Proficient leading the creation, revision, and/or improvement of standard operational procedures (SOPs).
Proficient driving operational best practices.
Proficient scripting processes in a language such as Bash, Python, or Ruby.
Proficient troubleshooting and anticipating problems that affect the performance, reliability, or availability of software systems.
Preferred Qualifications

We're seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer who thrives in production environments and has hands-on experience keeping complex systems running smoothly. This role goes far beyond initial deployments - you'll be responsible for the ongoing health, performance, and reliability of our production platforms.
