The purpose of this role:

The Microbiology Laboratory examines a diverse range of specimens for bacterial, fungal, viral and parasitic infections and consists of the main bacteriology laboratory, a Serology laboratory, full molecular suite and CL3 laboratory processing Enteric and Mycobacterium work. The Laboratory is Consultant lead and is part of the hospital Infection Prevention and Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship Committees.

Requirement

· A postgraduate degree in the field of Medical Laboratory Science

· Applicants must be eligible for Fellowship of The Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine.

· Applicants must also be a registered Medical Scientist with CORU.

· 4 Years in a Medical Laboratory post qualification.

· Have excellent planning & organisational skills.

Benefits

· Salary from €67,333 - €86,555 per annum based on years of experience

· Permanent, full-time contracts

Responsibilities

· Have experience in Molecular diagnostics and Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing.

· Have experience in test method verification and validation

· Shall be responsible for all technical/scientific aspects of the work of the Department.

· Shall participate in ensuring the Quality Management System of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine conforms to the standards contained in ISO 15189; Medical Laboratories – Particular requirements for quality and competence.
