About The RoleThe successful candidate will work on climate and sustainability projects for public and private sector clients. You will develop solutions that support climate action, resource efficiency, and biodiversity protection. Responsibilities include:
- Undertaking GHG emissions inventories (scope 1, 2, and 3; whole-life cycle), data management, and validation.
- Preparing carbon and sustainability strategies, including Net Zero roadmaps and Science Based Targets.
- Advising on renewable energy technologies within the built environment sector.
- Conducting Life Cycle Assessments of products and infrastructure.
- Leading sustainability workshops on various projects.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to provide sustainability advice.
- Honours degree (Level 8) in engineering or science, or equivalent.
- 2-5 years’ experience in the built environment industry (preferred).
- Membership of professional bodies such as IEMA, ICRS, and working towards chartered status.
- Experience working with engineering teams on low-carbon design options.
- Knowledge of Irish and European climate, energy, and environmental policies.
- Experience with carbon/energy assessments and data software (e.g., OneClick LCA).
- Ability to analyze sustainability data for reporting.
- Understanding of built environment standards like BREEAM.
- Strong technical report writing and communication skills.

**A little more about your role.**
As an Associate EIA Consultant within WSP you will work with a range of technical environmental specialists and design teams across multiple sectors to lead environmental teams and inputs to project designs and assessments. You will be instrumental in improving the environmental performance for a diverse range of projects across multiple sectors.
The role would suit an enthusiastic individual looking to influence, lead and deliver environmental elements of engineering projects, within a wide range of sectors including rail, highways, energy and commercial / residential, from feasibility through to planning, detailed design, construction and handover / maintenance. You will have responsibility for leading projects including tasks relating to recruitment, bidding, project team management, project delivery, and financial management.
+ Delivery of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports
+ Taking ownership of projects from inception to completion and providing regular project updates to the environment team director and clients;
+ Project Lead on EIA projects involving multidisciplinary teams;
+ Technical lead in a discipline as related to EIA an advantage e.g. ecology, noise or air quality;
+ Preparing planning applications, licences, permits and annual environmental reports e.g. waste licences;
+ Knowledge of the regulatory environment in Ireland including planning and permitting/licensing requirements;
+ Prioritising projects while balancing client expectations, available staff resources and project deadlines;
