Abbott Ireland Nutrition Division Cootehill Cavan
Abbott Nutrition produces a range of infant formulae in all pack sizes under the brand name “Similac”. To complement the range of “Similac” infant formulae, the facility also manufactures a range of follow on formulae under the brand name of “Gain”. The essential ingredient is liquid skim milk and this is combined with carbohydrate, vegetable oils, vitamins and minerals. The product is blended, pasteurised, dried and packaged at the site and once packaged, is distributed to Europe, South East Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and Canada.
Established in 1975, Abbott Nutrition in Ireland is the largest powder manufacturing facility for the production of infant formulae within the Abbott Corporation worldwide. Approximately 1,000 dairy farms in Ireland and Northern Ireland supply quality milk to the Cootehill facility which processes 500,000 litres per day. This secure supply together with Ireland’s reputation as a green, clean environment is of significant strategic importance to Abbott Nutrition.
The role of Senior Automation Engineer will involve the following
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
This is a senior role accountable for helping to develop and implement a robust Automation strategy across the site. Working with the Site Engineering Manager and Divisional Engineering the role will co-ordinate inputs from all Site functions, IT, sister sites, Vendors along with automation SMEs here in Cootehill to implement appropriate solutions and investments required to execute against same.
This is a key role that will require excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, and will interact with all levels of the organisation, ensuring competing priorities are managed objectively and in line with the overall business strategy.
Responsibilities
- Operational Technology Strategy & Roadmap:
- Give input to develop and maintain the OT Strategy and Roadmap for the site including Industry 4.0 and Smart Factory (digital) opportunities.
- Use detailed technical / systems standards that support the OT strategy, employing Best Available Technology.
- Foster a standardised approach to automation across all areas of the site
- OT Project Governance:
- Ensure projects involving OT elements are aligned with the site strategy and business needs.
- Ensure that Third Party Suppliers, System Integrators and Service providers follow our OT standards.
- Evaluation of Technical solution designs, execution / delivery, commissioning, and validation.
- OT Lifecycle Management:
- Accountable for the lifecycle management of all O/T infrastructure, applications & support services.
- Develop and implement a process for Retain, Retire and Replacement of automation applications.
- Responsible for the maintenance, compliance, and availability of the OT systems
- OT Team
- Develop the skills and capabilities of automation engineers to best meet present and future site needs around operations support and projects.
- Work closely with peers in the Plant network to ensure Cootehill is aligned with best practices across the network.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Engineering or Computer Science) is required with 5+ years of business working experience in a technology function in operations / manufacturing environment .
- Experience in the delivery and management of automated systems in addition to a working knowledge of GAMP software development lifecycle, ANSI/ISA-S88, S95 and PackML industry standards.
- Experience dealing with a large portfolio of systems, projects and initiatives in the areas of Information Systems, Automation and Operations.
- Candidates will have worked on automation systems in cGMP regulated manufacturing environments, and will be knowledgeable regarding FDA cGxP and 21 CFR Part 11 regulations, and understand software system validation in this context, is desired.
- Experience with Siemens PLCs, SCADA systems, and OSIsoft Pi Data Historians is desired
- Project Management skills required.
- People Management Experience, although not essential is preferred.

**Primary Function / Goals / Objectives**
+ The CAPA Specialist will report to the CAPA & Validation Manager.
+ Conduct weekly or more frequent CAPA meetings to track timelines and quality of Quality Records (QRs) and associated actions.
+ Provide Leadership and support on the Corrective and Preventative Action System to all plant personnel.
+ Report on monthly metrics with regard to CAPA and QRs.
+ Ensure that all appropriate site Quality CAPA metrics are recorded and verified.
+ Provide training to site subject matter experts and plant with regard to CAPA requirements as guided by division/corporate where required.
+ Review site QRs to ensure compliance to Rubric requirements and associated site and division policy requirements.
+ Collate CAPA information for site management review and area tier 3 information.
+ Provide guidance in management of unexpected manufacturing events, required bracketing and containment and associated sampling if required.
+ Complete Global CAPA review for impact to Cootehill site and support elevation process for site issues as required post QR approval.
+ Support the QA CAPA IT System (ABTRAQ) through which investigations and CAPA's are documented. This also involves the development and support of plant SME's and general users.
+ Liaise with other plant CAPA Specialists in Community of Practice meetings to address global concerns on CAPA opportunities/systems.
+ Food Safety Team member - actively participating in Food Safety Team meetings, as required.
+ Participate in internal audits and compliance walkdowns.
+ Complete related projects as required.

This is a project manager (Engineering) role accountable for delivery of facilities, utilities, and engineering (FUE) improvement projects. + Contributes to the development and monitoring of area budget through regular analysis of capital, expense, and department financial plans and spending.
+ Interface with division engineering on capital planning and monitoring as well as development and rollout of engineering best practices across site engineering team
+ Maintain relevant SOP's, maintenance practices and training practices
+ Carry out cost improvement programmes as required
+ Provider leadership and oversight to annual shutdown in line with division best practices and KPI's
+ Develop, implement and sustain lean/OPEX principles across engineering

**The Opportunity**
Our location in Ireland, currently has an opportunity for **Regulatory Intelligence Project Manager,** specifically supporting the Abbott Nutrition EMEA region.
This position will manage compliance related activities and assessments linked to new regulation or changes to existing regulations and lead multiple associated medium to large-scale projects that support Abbott Nutrition's Regulatory Affairs strategic and compliance objectives.
This regional position will independently interface with Abbott affiliates, AN Division, AN manufacturing plants, R&D, Quality, Supply Chain and others. Success will depend on leadership in managing the process, governance and resources required to timely assess market signals that impact the Abbott Nutrition business. The position will achieve the objectives through effective communication, and strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
**WHAT YOU'LL DO**
+ Lead regional regulatory intelligence operations, coordinate with EMEA Commercial Affiliates to monitor and assess impact to approved and draft regulations/standards, including commodity and horizontal legislation
+ Ensure timely tracking and update of draft regulations/standards in relevant platforms and SharePoint
+ Interact with other Regulatory departments and functions to ensure consistent assessment of impact and reporting
+ Represent relevant region as regulatory subject matter expert for regulation impact to AN business. Responsible for identifying and managing critical emerging regulations, and timely communication to senior leadership.

The role of Senior Automation Engineer will involve the following
**PURPOSE OF THE JOB:**
This is a senior role accountable for helping to develop and implement a robust Automation strategy across the site. Working with the Site Engineering Manager and Divisional Engineering the role will co-ordinate inputs from all Site functions, IT, sister sites, Vendors along with automation SMEs here in Cootehill to implement appropriate solutions and investments required to execute against same.
This is a key role that will require excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, and will interact with all levels of the organisation, ensuring competing priorities are managed objectively and in line with the overall business strategy.
**Responsibilities**
+ Operational Technology Strategy & Roadmap:
+ Give input to develop and maintain the OT Strategy and Roadmap for the site including Industry 4.0 and Smart Factory (digital) opportunities.
+ Use detailed technical / systems standards that support the OT strategy, employing Best Available Technology.
+ Foster a standardised approach to automation across all areas of the site
+ OT Project Governance:
+ Ensure projects involving OT elements are aligned with the site strategy and business needs.

**Education & Experience**

+ Experience in the delivery and management of automated systems in addition to a working knowledge of GAMP software development lifecycle, ANSI/ISA-S88, S95 and PackML industry standards.
+ Experience dealing with a large portfolio of systems, projects and initiatives in the areas of Information Systems, Automation and Operations.
+ Candidates will have worked on automation systems in cGMP regulated manufacturing environments, and will be knowledgeable regarding FDA cGxP and 21 CFR Part 11 regulations, and understand software system validation in this context, is desired.
+ Experience with Siemens PLCs, SCADA systems, and OSIsoft Pi Data Historians is desired

**Primary Function/Goals/Objectives**
+ The Management Accountant is responsible for consulting any SOP's for any job task he/she may carry out and ensure they fully understand and adhere to the SOP.
+ Housekeeping is a critical function of all jobs and the Management Accountant is expected to ensure all housekeeping activities in their work area are observed and carried out appropriately. It is important they are in adherence to the Housekeeping SOP.

**Role Purpose:**
This is a great opportunity to join a market leader within the Nutrition Manufacturing Industry and work in a dynamic global environment. For this role, you will ideally have 5+ years of relevant multinational experience in a manufacturing environment.
