The advisory team must be able to respond quickly to fast moving business processes and timelines whether assisting with advice related to transactions or working to tight financial close deadlines.
Main responsibilities: *proficient accountant, with a strong understanding of GAAP; *experience of working with MNCs, in an industry or practice setting; *previous international experience working on accounting, financial reporting and/or supporting auditing of companies across a number of jurisdictions in EMEA, APAC and Americas; *strong experience in the preparation of financial statements in IFRS, UK & Irish GAAP and desirable in other international jurisdictions though not a requirement; *assist in maintaining and developing key client relationships; *assist in proposal and business development work, preparing budgets, liaising with international offices and partner/director as well as other relevant stakeholders; *play a key role in the wider international community, getting involved in internal committees and contributing to project work; *design and implementation of project plans, with effective delegation of tasks to more junior members in the team and appropriate levels of coaching; *ensure completion of assignments within appropriate budget and timeframe; *self-motivated and ability to work within a team; *manage a team effectively while on assignment; *responsible for development and mentoring staff; *working knowledge of ONESOURCE and/or Caseware for accounts preparation is desirable; *experience of using an electronic auditing package an advantage; *strong communicator, highly articulate with good report writing and excel skills; *commercial / business awareness; *a passion for client service; *a genuine interest in IFRS and financial reporting in general; and *ability to learn quickly and keep abreast of developments (particularly IFRS).

The Team and the opportunity We have an exciting Director role available in EY's market-leading FAAS team, working with some of the largest multinational and Irish companies in a role that also affords you the opportunity to work extensively with all of EY's sub-services lines, including advisory, assurance and tax.
Specifically, within FAAS, we are looking to recruit into our Finance Advisory & Process Improvement competency.
You will play a key role in driving growth by developing new and enhancing existing client relationships, leading highly skilled project teams and delivering a first-class customer experience through high profile engagements.
FAAS are the trusted business advisors to our client's finance and reporting organisations, providing practical support and end-to-end business solutions in the areas of financial reporting, accounting and business transactions and financial control. FAAS is a client-facing service offering, focused on generating value-add relationships with our clients and supporting them with the continuous development of their finance functions. Our core service offerings include:

Your key responsibilities
- Growing the finance optimisation business by actively pursuing new business opportunities, client contacts and areas of growth;
- Networking & representing the FAAS practice at events, client seminars and similar;
- Leading the day to day delivery on client engagement projects to maintain quality and our promise for exceptional service delivery to all our clients;
- Client management and liaison with senior client stakeholders with a view to build strong working relationships with our clients.
- Managing performance of junior team members through on the job coaching, mentoring and providing constructive and timely performance feedback;
- Liaison with other EY teams and Service lines, is necessary, to ensure seamless solution to our clients;
- Keeping engagement leaders updated on progress on the engagement and bringing to their attention any issues in a timely manner with proposed solutions;
- Leading consultations and research in line with agreed engagement execution plans to support deliverables to our clients;
- Preparation of high-quality client deliverables including (but not limited to) technical accounting analysis papers, GAAP compliant financial statements, project reports, special purpose financial information, accounting policies documentation and the implementation of improvements to our clients' internal control environments;
- Presentation of the results of our work to senior team members or clients in a clear and concise manner;
- Development of our talent pool through our internal people initiative like training, counselling, mentoring, role modelling and promoting general wellbeing of our people.
To qualify for the role, you must have
- Accountancy qualified (ACCA / ACA / CPA / CA or Equivalent).
- A minimum of 10years post qualified experience.
- Deep understanding of IFRS, and FRS 102.
- Strong technical writing skills and advanced risk management knowledge.
- Experience in finance process optimisation, including controls and process design and ideally experience in the adoption of technology tools or automations including RPA, OCR, Process Mining, Blackline, PowerBI, Oracle Cloud, SAP/S4,
- US GAAP and SOX knowledge.
- Proven ability and interest in business development & networking.
- Proven ability to work on complex accounting issues and transactions and an ability to clearly articulate the advice in written deliverables.
- Proven experience leading the planning, execution and reporting on engagements.
- Good working knowledge of finance governance and reporting, finance operations, processes and internal controls.
- Industry experience.
- Demonstrated commercial awareness.
