HOPE Creative Studio, the newly established creative branch of HOPE, is seeking a dynamic
and visionary Illustrator/Animator to join our growing creative team. This role offers a unique
opportunity to help build and shape a studio devoted to storytelling, inclusion, and impact—
creating animation, illustration, children's books, educational tools, and visual media designed to
support neurodivergent children and their families.
About the Role:
As the Illustrator/Animator, you will be producing high-quality visual content and participating
in the daily operations, direction, and growth of the studio. You will be part of the design and
animation team, managing creative projects from concept to delivery, and play a key part in
shaping the voice, brand, and purpose of our studio.
Key Responsibilities:
- • Design and illustrate original characters, scenes, and visuals for storybooks, educational content, digital platforms, and parent training materials
- • Animate short-form content (2D) for social media, educational reels, and children's content
- • Collaborate with writers, educators, and the wider team to bring meaningful stories to life
- • Participate all creative projects, workflows, and deadlines
- • Collaborate with other creatives, interns, and freelancers
- • Maintain file organization, version control, and branding consistency
- • Participate regular creative reviews and feedback loops
- • Contribute to the creative vision and mission of our Creative Studio
- • Pitch new ideas and revenue-generating opportunities (children's books, merchandise, commissions, partnerships)
- • Develop visual standards and creative guidelines aligned with our values
- • Any other as directed by Team Lead/Management
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- • Good experience in illustration and animation (2D/3D essential)
- • Strong portfolio of completed works, especially in character design, storytelling, or children's content
- • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Toon Boom, or similar animation software
- • Excellent organizational and communication skills
- • Passion for inclusion, and social impact through art
- Minimum qualification - First degree diploma or relevant experience
Salary & Benefits:
- • €30,000 – €45,000 per annum, depending on experience

About the Position:
We're seeking a AI Technical Animator to bridge the gap between traditional animation and advanced AI-driven systems. This role is pivotal in architecting runtime animation behaviors, collaborating with AI teams, and assisting in driving the animation integration process across gameplay and systems.
A deep understanding of rigging is essential—not only to collaborate with dedicated riggers, but also to contribute to the design and review of control systems, deformation setups, and the overall character pipeline. While not solely a rigging role, you'll be actively involved in ensuring rigs support systemic and intelligent behaviors and may contribute directly where needed.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain scalable, real-time animation systems that integrate with AI behaviors and procedural motion.
- Collaborate closely with AI engineers and gameplay developers to create adaptive, systemic character performances.
- Support rigging workflows, including the design and review of skeletal structures, facial systems, and deformation strategies.
- Build tools (in Python or MEL) that support animation retargeting, pose libraries, motion blending, or state-driven animation logic.
- Prototype and implement motion matching, IK solvers, and procedural animation techniques that support gameplay responsiveness and realism.
- Ensure clean integration and optimization of animation assets in engine (preferably Unreal).
- Help define and enforce animation quality and performance standards across the pipeline.
Qualifications
Need to Have:
- Experience in technical animation on at least one shipped AAA title (or equivalent complex real-time project).
- Expert-level skills in Maya (required) for animation, rig review, and technical workflows.
- Solid scripting experience in Python for automation and tool creation.
- Deep understanding of rigging systems, character setup, and skinning best practices.
- Strong knowledge of animation systems and runtime behaviors (blend trees, IK, state machines, Control Rig, etc.).
- Comfortable in discussions with rigging and animation teams and aligning rigging outputs with gameplay and AI needs.
Nice To Have
- Experience with MotionBuilder for mocap processing (not required).
- Familiarity with Unreal Engine Control Rig and Sequencer.
- Exposure to motion matching, neural animation systems (e.g., DeepMimic, Phase-Functioned Neural Networks), or procedural animation.
- Background or interest in machine learning, behavior systems, or character AI.
