About the Role

About Healthpoint Pharmacy

Healthpoint Pharmacy is an independently owned group of 11 pharmacies across the Midlands and Dublin. We are a patient-centred organisation with a strong culture of teamwork and professional development. To date, over 30 Pharmacy Technicians have qualified through our structured apprentice scheme, and many of our current Dispensary Supervisors began their careers on this pathway.

The Apprentice Scheme

This role offers you the chance to build a professional career in pharmacy while earning and learning:

  • Step 1: Begin with the IPU Over-the-Counter (OTC) course.
  • Step 2: Progress to the IPU Pharmacy Technician Course (QQI/FET Level 6), starting in January 2027. This is a two-year programme leading to a recognised qualification as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Step 3: Graduate with both a formal qualification and several years of hands-on experience in a busy, patient-focused pharmacy group.

All training and course fees are fully funded by Healthpoint Pharmacy.

Throughout your apprenticeship you will rotate across our four Mullingar stores, supporting teams, covering holidays, and gaining wide-ranging experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the safe preparation and dispensing of prescriptions under pharmacist supervision.
  • Provide excellent customer service and advice for OTC medicines.
  • Manage stock levels, check expiry dates, and support ordering processes.

On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will receive a FETAC/QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft - This qualification is recognised both nationally and internationally.
The successful candidate will have a keen interest in motor vehicles, it is essential that you have a minimum grade achieved in English, Maths and a Science based subject. You will be enthusiastic, committed and confident with an analytical and methodical way of thinking and it is paramount that you can demonstrate a high regard for customer care and professionalism and a willingness to commit to the apprenticeship with a view to qualifying as a Motor Technician and continuing your career within Joe Duffy Group whereby additional manufacturing training and development programmes can be undertaken.
