We are seeking an experienced Automation & Control Systems Engineer to take ownership of the design, programming, and delivery of advanced smart factory solutions. This position offers involvement across the full project lifecycle, from system architecture and development through to FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities.
Key Responsibilities
- System Design & Delivery
- Lead the design and implementation of automation control systems, ensuring compliance with project scope, budget, and schedule.
- Produce detailed controls design documentation (CSVRA, SDS, VDS) in line with GAMP5 and 21 CFR Part 11.

Skills & Experience
- 5+ years' experience in industrial automation, with proven leadership in system design and project delivery.
- Minimum 3 years in a GMP-regulated environment (Pharma, Life Sciences, Biotech, or Medical Devices) – essential requirement.
- Strong expertise in Allen Bradley systems, including servo motion control and FactoryTalk View ME/SE.

Our client, a leading manufacturing company in Drogheda, requires an experienced
Control Systems Engineer
. Reporting into the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate work in a production facility,using the most advanced, energy-efficient technology, creating a range of exceptional products. The company is part of a global organisation offering exciting possibilities for progression.
Role
- Responsibility for the Siemens PCS7 central control system on-site, ensuring it operates efficiently and effectively.
- Network Owner, responsible for all servers and control system software and communication.
- Design and programming of software for projects and plant modifications as required.
- Software modifications, fault finding, PID loop set-up and tuning, and assistance to engineers on control systems issues.
- Commissioning and signal checking for projects and plant modifications.
- Maintenance of operator stations and plant visualisation software.
- To coordinate the uploading of new software and upgrades where necessary.
- Coordinate activities with expert engineers from Control System suppliers
Requirements:
- Degree or similar qualification in a technical engineering related discipline.
- Experience of PCS7, Step 7, Simatic Manager and WinCC. preferred
- Min 5 years' relevant hands-on experience in industry
- Experience with Windows operating systems, security and network configuration.
- Experience with the following PLC programming languages: CFC, FBD and STL.
- Some exposure to SQL and a high-level programming language.
- Knowledge of system archiving/restoration and OT cyber security tools and practices.
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
- The successful candidate will receive the necessary training to broaden their existing knowledge.
