**Role Description**
The Cloud Operations Engineer (Contractor) is responsible for the support of complex Cloud solutions across Azure/AWS/GCP. Typical day-to-day workload would focus on the support and creation of Cloud resources, capacity management, service right sizing, financial governance such as reservations, monitoring, and request fulfillment. An ideal candidate will have background experience related to Cloud engineering or support, with experience in creating and updating infrastructure as code templates.
**Role Objectives**
This role is responsible for the operational support of Cloud platforms notably Azure across all SMBCGroup Company entities in the Americas and EMEA Division This role requires experience of Microsoft Azure operations engineering.
+ Finding and improving operational efficiencies to best suit Cloud resource delivery access management and security implementations
+ Support of production workloads within a multiCloud environment including but not limited to monitoring patching backup and restoration of Cloud resources
+ Delivery of Cloud infrastructure for partner solutions
+ Creation and support of automation and infrastructure as code solutions for resource creation and policy leveraging PowerShellAzure DevOps Ansible and other approved corporate automation and orchestration platforms
+ Sound familiarity and experience in debugging of databricks notebooks general compute sql warehouses and troubleshooting datafactory pipeline workflow
+ Prior experience working with version control tools such as Github Azure DevOps including repository management pipeline as code and sdlc workflows
+ Basic understanding debugging experience when it comes to application infrastructure databases networking and dns
+ Familiarity with data analytics tools such as databricks and datafactory
+ Experience with deployment data analytics infrastructure to basic onboarding debugging pipelines and core features such unity catolog linked services notebook management
+ Work with internal teams and vendors on the integration of a diverse set of systems into the central ITSMITOM platform ServiceNow
+ Assist with migrations to cloud ensuring best practices are followed and architecture is compliant with company standards
+ Participate in the implementation of monitoring systems for event monitoring alerting and metrics
+ Discover opportunities and help facilitate a mechanism to change evolve improve and simplify the infrastructure and supporting processes procedures
+ Directly interface with support teams across all disciplines to facilitate a closer relationship for collaborative implementations and knowledge sharing
+ Ensure handover of new updated systems documentation to team providing 24x7x365 support
**Qualifications and Skills**
Proficiency in Cloud services related to one or more Cloud providers including IaaS, PaaS and SaaS.
- Experience with infrastructure as code development and iteration in either Terraform/ARM/Bicep/CloudFormation.
- Hands on operational experience and knowledge with Azure or AWS.
- Experience with monitoring and log aggregation tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Splunk, ELK, etc.
- Fundamental understanding of public vs private networking in the Cloud.
- Sound knowledge on Git merging and branching strategies.
- Ability to execute proof of concepts and deploy complex solutions.
- Understanding of typical SDLC processes, workflow as pertaining to infrastructure.
- Basic understanding of Atlassian Suite (Jira/Confluence) is a plus.
- Strong PowerShell or other scripting experience, especially with the goal of automation.
- Prior experience working with configuration management tools (Ansible preferred) and infrastructure-as-code tools (HashiCorp Terraform).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to articulate requirements, concepts and ideas to business and technology partners.
- Strong technical ability for diagnosis, triage, troubleshooting and problem analysis with the ability to communicate results to business stakeholders, IT support teams to resolve issues both quickly and effectively.

Purpose of Position: The key functions of this position are to teach a range of School programmes, develop academic programmes and programme-related materials, and carry out research in areas as specified in this advert. The current positions are in Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence in Business, FinTech and Cloud Computing. The School of Computing is one of Ireland's largest Schools of Computing with academic programmes at the leading edge of industry requirements within an innovation-intensive environment. Our school faculty is strongly focused on applied research on different aspects of computer science, with current involvement in several EU projects. Additionally, the School has strong industry links, is a part of the Dublin Regional Innovation Consortium, and encourages inventions, patents, and spinouts. Reporting to: Dean of the School of Computing Key Relationships: Dean/Vice-Dean of School of Computing Faculty/Programme Directors Programme Co-ordinators Students Computing Support Tutor Teaching Responsibilities: Actively participate in the School's teaching provisions at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Supervise and mark student research projects at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Attend committees and meetings appropriate to School programmes. Engage in the assessment processes of the College including setting and marking examinations and assignments, attending assessment boards and liaising with external examiners. Programme Development: Assist in the development of existing and new programmes. This may involve drafting submission documents, writing new modules and revising existing ones, liaising with the validating bodies, and promoting, implementing, and reviewing complete programmes.
