Job Description

Credit Risk Underwriting Manager

South Dublin

Why this role exists

Our client, a scaling FinTech business is building a high-performing credit team to power non-dilutive funding for growing SMEs.

The Role:

  • Own end-to-end underwriting for SME facilities (invoice/ABL, working capital, revenue-based), from screening to final recommendation.
  • Build and refine credit policy & playbooks: risk appetite, sector guidelines, concentration limits, collateral frameworks.
  • Speed + quality: drive decision cycle times down while improving loss outcomes; champion data-driven decisions.
  • Model & MI: develop underwriting models, cohort/PD views, vintage analysis; partner with data/ops to automate scoring and dashboards.
  • Portfolio hygiene: early warning indicators, remediation plans; "fast yes/fast no" discipline.
  • Leadership runway: mentor analysts; step into committee presentations and board-level packs as you progress.

Apply for this role if:

  • You've moved up (promoted internally / took on bigger mandates) and can prove outcomes, not tasks
  • You think like an owner: sharp risk judgement, commercial sense, and bias for action.
  • You're data-literate: Excel at a minimum; SQL/Python a plus. You turn messy data into clear decisions.

Must-haves

  • Strong academics: have a degree, postgrad, MBA and/or professional qualifications
  • Underwriting exposure in SME lending/ABL/invoice finance/alt-lending (not just portfolio or relationship management).
  • Clear career progression (promotions or scope increases) and achievement bullets with numbers.
  • Excellent written/oral communication; confident with credit committee and senior stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fintech or high-growth lender experience
  • Built MI/credit dashboards or helped implement workflow/decisioning tools.
  • Experience with PE-backed or e-commerce/recurring-revenue SMEs.

What's in it for you

  • Fast track to leadership
  • Direct impact on risk strategy, product, and growth; exposure to the executive team.
  • Competitive package with performance upside.
