Contract Type: Permanent Post
Contract Hours: 39 hours per week
Salary Scale: €32,639 - €39,499pro rata per annum. Salary scales are subject to LSI's (Long Service Increments)
This pay scale is subject to increases in 2025 in accordance with the recent WRC agreement towards enhanced pay adjustments in Section 39 organisations.
Annual Leave Entitlement: 30 days pro rata per annum
Overview of the Post:
The role of the Personal Care Assistant is to support in the delivery of high-quality respite service, including assisting Service Owners in their personal needs whilst attending their respite break, and to access all centre activities.

The successful candidate will have:
Essential Criteria:
- FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Social Care or relevant health related area
- 1 years' experience in providing personal care to adults.
- Full clean driving license.

- Experience working with adults and families with physical/sensory/intellectual disabilities.
- Experience in driving people with disabilities on public roads.
- Experience working with adults within the community.
- Experience with PEG feeding and catheterisation.

· Assist to Hospital appointments.

· Changing catheter bag to Day/night bag.
· Assist with cleaning duties bathroom and bedroom.
· Assist with any other tasks that I may require to undertake e.g. writing letters filling out forms etc.
· Personal care to be treated with dignity and respect of client's privacy.
· Collection of prescription if needed.
· Assist with packing for holidays or daily outings.
· Agree to Attending events and social activities if needed on a social call.
· Social calls when needed, example is concerts, shows, cinema etc.
Position Characteristics:
- An understanding of disability and the Independent Living movement.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail and follow clear instruction.
- Fluency in English Essential.
- Trusting and being aware of the importance of confidentiality.
- Patience is a key role and a Sence of humour and positive thinking would be a distinct advantage.
- The ability to think outside of the box.
- Some evening, antisocial and weekend hours will be required. (Anti-social and Sunday rates apply).
- Driving license an advantage but not essential.
- Must be able to work in Ireland.
- Being compassionate and understanding.
Qualifications
