As the Business Data Analyst, your work area includes specification of BRDs for the development of analytic automations in healthcare professional and institutional claims data for UHC all Line of businesses. The role requires review of various non-clinical analytics, data-maps through domain expertise and advanced data analysis, identifying automation opportunities resulting in business impact, innovation or optimization algorithms and building strong relationships with global analytics teams. The role will focus on healthcare claims analytics, including overpayment detection and algorithm development

Primary responsibilities of the Business Data Analyst:

  • Research potential autoload scenarios using the SOPs to identify claims that can be fully automated.
  • Work with the data science team to build LLM/Agentic solutions to source missing data that is currently unavailable in unstructured data
  • Identify algos that require fully agentic solutions for automation
  • Develop and maintain recurring algorithms to identify overpaid claims and ensure accurate payment
  • Ensures team gathers right requirements from the business stakeholders and ensure that all specifications are complete, consistent, concise, and achievable
  • Identify and refine criteria to successfully build and enhance new and existing analytic logic, ensuring correct claim coordination.
  • Communicating key analytic findings to Data engineering via a BRD document
  • Organize and manage time and resources; establish priorities and coordinate work on many projects simultaneously
  • Work to gather, examine, and analyze data; write technical specifications for manipulating data to look for trends
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of project scope, data extraction methodology, design of dependent and profile variables, logic and design of data cleaning, exploratory data analysis
  • Identify opportunities, pose business questions, and make valuable discoveries to prototype development and rule improvement. Actively consult with business stakeholders, data scientists and subject matter experts to ensure appropriate medical and business content is incorporated into analytic approaches
  • Ability to work closely with Business Analysts, Domain SMEs to understand business needs and help define requirements for reporting solutions
  • Deliver robust and scalable analytic solutions in an automated state for payers and provider markets
  • Perform monthly analysis of algorithm performance, comparing forecasted vs. actual outcomes
  • Develop metrics to evaluate profitability and effectiveness of new algorithms

Required Qualifications of the Business Data Analyst:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in a related Information Technology field/Healthcare/clinical research or equivalent technical experience
  • Experience in data analytics and claims processes
  • In-depth understanding of healthcare, Payment integrity processes, Claim lifecycle, Adjudication & Pre-Adjudication process
  • Knowledge of analytical tools and techniques, especially those relating to data mining & analysis. Should have ability to handle/work on medium/large data sets
  • Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Office Excel/PowerBI/PowerPoint; Working Knowledge of basic SQL or Python is desirable
  • Experience in research - ability to engage with auditors to fully understand wow different workflows are done
  • Strong project management skills, ability to influence cross-functionally in a rapidly evolving business environment while managing multiple / concurrent projects
  • Must be able to communicate ideas effectively and concisely to all levels of Management, business partners, and to other external clients and ability to work independently
  • Experience with healthcare claims systems such as COSMOS, CSP, UNET, USP, or NICE

Preferred Qualifications of the Business Data Analyst:

  • Medical coding/clinical certification like CPC OR CPC-H or any other medical certification/knowledge
  • Scrum or other Agile development experience
  • Knowledge of Claims Cost Management (CCM)
  • UNET (PCOMM) & ISET applications (Internal to Optum)
  • COSMOS -M&R (PCOMM) & ISET applications (Internal to Optum) - preferrable

**Required Qualifications of the CCM Business Data Analyst:**
+ Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Technology, Healthcare, Clinical Research, or a related field
+ Proven previous experience in data analytics and healthcare claims processes
+ Deep understanding of U.S. healthcare systems, payment integrity, and the claims lifecycle (including adjudication and pre-adjudication)
+ Familiarity with Optum internal applications such as UNET (PCOMM), ISET, and COSMOS (M&R)
+ Knowledge of E&I or M&R claims processing
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint; working knowledge of SQL or SAS
+ Proven ability to detect data anomalies and conduct root cause analysis in healthcare claims
**Preferred Qualifications of the CCM Business Data Analyst:**
+ Medical coding or clinical certification (e.g., CPC, CPC-H)
+ Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies

Carr Golf's travel division is home to two luxury brands (Carr Golf Travel and Irish Gold Tours), creating tailored tours to Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and beyond. Its commercial services division manages six golf venues. Meanwhile, Carr Golf Maintenance oversees agronomic practices at 28 courses in Ireland and the UK.

The Business Intelligence & Insights Analyst will join an ambitious and collaborative team that is tireless in creating the best possible customer experiences. The role presents as Ideal opportunity for a candidate with a passion for data to lead the development of business intelligence and commercial insights that support strategic and operational decision-making across the portfolio of group businesses.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Marketing, the role is focused on driving data-driven strategy across six managed golf venues and two luxury golf tourism brands. It will focus on extracting and analysing data from key operational platforms to uncover insights into visitor behaviour, golf traveler trends, and revenue performance.

Strategic Focus

  • Generate actionable customer insights from golfers at our venues and users of our travel brands.
  • Design and implement self-service BI solutions that enable teams across the organisation to independently access, explore, and apply data in their decision-making.
  • Develop clear, compelling visualisations and executive summaries that effectively communicate insights to support strategic and operational decisions.
  • Contribute to long-term business strategy by identifying trends in customer behaviour, engagement, market dynamics, operational performance, and commercial outcomes.
  • Champion data literacy across the organization, from front-line staff to senior leadership.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Aggregate and analyse data from core operations platforms, including tee sheet and member management systems, itinerary management platforms, CRM, and EPOS.
  • Develop and maintain interactive dashboards to monitor key metrics and performance indicators.
  • Produce weekly and monthly reports on operational performance, behaviours and emerging trends.
  • Analyse client booking patterns; lead times, demand cycles, visitor profiles, and repeat behaviour.
  • Collaborate with venue managers to identify operational trends and recommend improvements.
  • Provide commercial teams with actionable insights to support product and pricing decisions.
  • Assist with the rollout of new reporting processes and the integration of additional data sources.
  • Support client audits and reviews by delivering robust, data-driven performance evaluations.
  • Manage ad hoc analysis projects to address evolving business needs and opportunities.

Experience

  • 3–4 years of experience in data analysis and business intelligence
  • Familiarity with golf, tourism, or hospitality sectors is highly desirable.
  • Strong experience building dashboards and visual reports using Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
  • Proficient in handling and transforming multi-source datasets.
  • Excellent data storytelling and presentation skills, with the ability to turn data into actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate customer behaviour insights into actionable recommendations.
  • High attention to detail with strong problem-solving and organisational skills.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; familiarity with SQL or Python is a plus.

Academic/Other Requirements

  • A degree in Maths, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related discipline.
  • A Master's degree in a related discipline is desirable but not essential.
  • Additional certifications in data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau), data analysis (e.g. SQL, Python), or CRM analytics platforms would be an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Full Driving License and access to a car is essential.
