Principal/Essential Duties and Responsibilities
+ Conduct thorough financial analysis, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and forecasting. Prepare comprehensive financial reports for management review and use data to tell the story.
+ Assist in the development and management of annual budgets and long-term financial forecasts. Provide insights to ensure accurate and realistic financial planning.
+ Gather and interpret financial data from various sources, including internal systems and external market data. Use quantitative and qualitative methods to derive meaningful insights.
+ Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement strategic initiatives. Provide financial modeling and scenario analysis to support strategic decision-making.
+ Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to evaluate company performance. Identify areas for improvement and recommend actionable solutions.
+ Analyze financial risks and opportunities and develop strategies to mitigate risks. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
+ Work closely with various departments, including marketing, operations, and sales, to provide financial insights and support business objectives.
+ Perform ad hoc financial analysis and participate in special projects as required. Present findings and recommendations to senior management.

The Operations Innovations Finance team is looking for a Principal Financial Analyst who will primarily focus on business partnering within a Strategic Program within the organization. A key member of the Global Operations and Supply Chain (GOSC) FP&A Volume team in Medtronic, with primary responsibility for partnering with the EMEA manufacturing platform. The Principal Financial Analyst is responsible for planning, analyzing, and reporting of volume KPIs whilst providing coaching and mentorship to other team members. **A Day in The Life Of:**
+ Serve as the key FP&A contact for manufacturing sites across the EMEA region, focusing on volume KPIs, as part of the GOSC FP&A Volume Team.
+ Lead the consolidation, review, and analysis of weekly volume KPIs for EMEA manufacturing sites. Investigate and understand drivers of variances (e.g., absorption, product mix) and proactively escalate concerns as needed.
+ Provide guidance, coaching, and training to other Volume Team members. Review their work products and act as a team leader to support development and quality outcomes.
+ Partner with the Data & Analytics team to ensure alignment between online reporting tools (e.g., Weekly Volume Absorption dashboards) and weekly EMEA volume reporting. Analyze and deliver insights from the reporting outputs.
+ Collaborate with Manufacturing Site Operations & Finance partners and Global Manufacturing FP&A teams to create analysis, processes, and presentation content that transform data into actionable stories influencing financial performance.
+ Act as a proactive and strategic business partner to EMEA Platform sites, delivering clear insights and a strong understanding of volume drivers, absorption trends, earned hours, production units, and more.
+ Lead volume assumption planning (production units, earned hours, absorption, etc.) for the Annual Operating Plan and quarterly forecasts. Own detailed volume KPI planning in offline models, OneStream, and other tools as appropriate.
+ Identify and communicate risks and opportunities to the forecast by analyzing expected changes and emerging trends.
+ Support the development and implementation of best practices in Volume KPI planning, analysis, and reporting.
+ Lead and support initiatives to identify, recommend, and implement process improvements and simplifications.
+ Complete ad-hoc analysis, special projects, and data preparation requests for internal customers, as needed.
**Key Skills & Experience**
+ Bachelor's Degree with 7+ years of work experience in Finance and / or Accounting (Or Advanced Degree with 5+ years)
+ Professional Accountancy qualification required e.g., ACCA, ACA, CPA, CIMA.
+ Excellent communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills with ability to influence multiple diverse stakeholders, including with senior leadership.
+ Excellent analytical and quantitative skills for creating actionable insights and analysis, especially variance analysis.
+ Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple and conflicting deadlines and priorities.

+ Relevant practical or internship experience demonstrating the ability to work with data to produce analysis, influencing decision making with numerical analysis and generating insights.
+ Proficiency in Sheets or other spreadsheet technology.
+ Ability to complete a minimum 13 week full-time internship in the internship location starting in either May, June or July 2026.
+ Currently in your penultimate/final year of education.
