Your key responsibilities
Within FAAS, you'll work as part of a multi-disciplinary and high-performing team of problem solvers with extensive experience helping financial services organisations solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution in one or more of the following areas:
- Research and develop solutions to complex technical accounting and/or regulatory issues.
- Keep up to date with industry, regulatory and accounting change to proactively develop and present solutions to our clients and potential clients;
- Work with our client's financial and regulatory reporting teams to help deliver insights from financial information and to improve reporting processes.
- Lead the delivery of technical support on ad-hoc accounting and regulatory queries from clients and teams in other service lines and across EMEIA;
- Assist clients with the implementation of new and revised accounting standards, GAAP conversions and regulatory change.
- Lead the planning, execution and delivery of engagements including those involving large scale financial and accounting change or complex transactions in in large Finance functions.
- Lead junior team members effectively, providing support and guidance whilst acting as the key point of contact with senior leaders.
- Leverage technology to continually learn, share knowledge with team members, and enhance service delivery; and
- Build strong internal relationships within Assurance and across the other service lines we work with and support.
To qualify for the role, you must have

Skills and attributes for success

To qualify for the role, you must have
- Accountancy qualified (ACCA / ACA / CPA / CA or Equivalent).
- A minimum of 10 years post qualified experience.
- Deep understanding of IFRS, and FRS 102.
- Strong technical writing skills and advanced risk management knowledge.
- Experience in finance process optimisation, including controls and process design and ideally experience in the adoption of technology tools or automations including RPA, OCR, Process Mining, Blackline, PowerBI, Oracle Cloud, SAP/S4,

The role
This is a high profile position. It involves working closely with Partners and other senior personnel within Grant Thornton, but also with key finance people in both publicly listed companies and multinational environments.

FAAS
team are a group of proactive accounting specialists who are focused on providing practical solutions to our clients' complex financial reporting issues. Our FAAS team must be able to respond quickly to fast moving business processes and timelines – whether assisting with advice related to transactions or working to tight financial close deadlines. Main responsibilities:
- previous experience of working with MNC's an advantage but not a requirement, this could be in an industry or practice setting;
- desire to broaden international experience through working with and auditing companies across a number of jurisdictions in EMEA, APAC and Americas;
- strong experience in the preparation of financial statements;
- assist in maintaining and developing key client relationships;
- design and implementation of project plans;
- ensure completion of assignments within appropriate budget and timeframe;
- self-motivated and ability to work within a team;
- manage a team while on assignment;
- responsible for development and mentoring staff;
- working knowledge of Caseware for accounts preparation;
- experience of using an electronic auditing package an advantage;
- proficient accountant, with a strong understanding of GAAP;
- strong communicator, highly articulate with good report writing and excel skills;
- commercial / business awareness;
- a passion for client service;
- a genuine interest in IFRS and financial reporting in general; and
- ability to learn quickly and keep abreast of developments (particularly IFRS).
Skills and attributes:
- recognised accounting qualification;
- an audit background;
- experience in a top 20 practice;
- minimum of 3 years PQE practical experience of auditing or preparing financial statements; and
- strong project management skills.

Key Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted advisor to a varied client base, building and maintaining strong long-term relationships.
- Oversee preparation of financial statements in line with FRS102 and IFRS.
- Manage corporation tax and income tax filings, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Ensure all submissions to Revenue and the Companies Registration Office (CRO) are fully compliant.
- Conduct detailed file reviews to maintain quality and regulatory standards.
- Mentor and support junior accountants, fostering growth and team performance.
- Identify client challenges and provide practical, tailored solutions that add real business value.
The Ideal Candidate
- Fully qualified accountant with at least 2 years' PQE.
- Proven experience within practice, ideally managing a portfolio of clients.
- Strong technical knowledge of FRS102 and IFRS.
- Commercially aware with a clear understanding of client needs.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport.
- Previous leadership or mentoring experience is a strong advantage.

The Position

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Maintenance of financial information for a broad range of international clients using various accounting software packages including Xero and Sage 50
- Preparation of monthly accounting reporting packs including bank reconciliations, creditors reconciliations, VAT reconciliations and debtors' statements
- Creating and updating financial statements using accounts production software
- Preparation of statutory financial statements
- Preparation and filing of VAT, VIES and Intrastat returns
- Interim secondments to clients across a range of industries
- Liaising with various external stakeholders providing support as required including external auditors as part of the year end audit process
- Building strong relationships with client representatives
- Promoting financial accounting and outsourcing services both internally and externally
