**Role Description**
SMBC is seeking a Senior Cloud Security Architect who is interested in building a career at a fast growing and reputable Bank. The Senior Cloud Security Architect will develop and maintain system-specific cyber security policy best suited for business function and regulatory requirements. In addition, you will evaluate network security policy and set configurations for internal networks, external access, routers and firewalls and security certificates They will be given opportunities to participate in devising and implementing testing plans for security systems, training initiatives, incident response and management plans, monitoring and reporting systems and disaster recovery plans.

**Role Objectives: Delivery**
+ Develop and maintain system-specific cyber security policy best suited for business function and regulatory requirements.
+ Evaluate network security policy and set configurations for internal networks, external access, router and firewall configurations, and security certificates. Develop machine security policies, select appropriate anti-virus technologies and determine operational best practices.
+ Evaluate all new applications and systems for security requirements and risk, creating allowance lists and policy revisions as needed.
+ Devise and implement testing plans for security systems, training initiatives, incident response and management plans, monitoring and reporting systems, and disaster recovery plans.
+ Work with business unit leads and compliance teams to set security risk objectives, develop operational policy and guidance, and determine budgets for security systems.
+ Partner with IT systems and network infrastructure teams to develop and implement security policy and configurations for corporate devices, connections and data resources.
+ Engage with business units and application development teams to ensure third party and internally developed applications conform to security standards and do not create security gaps.
+ Collaborate with cyber security analysts to operate testing and training programs, apply policy and install security applications, and provide incident response and tracking to support analysis efforts.
**Qualifications and Skills**
+ 7 years of experience highly desired
+ Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of various network, data and system security protocols and methodologies.
+ Advanced IT security certifications.
+ Display knowledge of regulations governing data security, industry and operational best practices, risk mitigation techniques and incident response protocols.
+ Possess ability to coordinate policy and system updates, incident response plans, testing and training, and monitoring and reporting efforts across multiple departments and functions.

**Your day-to-day**
We work in a hybrid formation, attending the office on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday with the option to work from home or office on Wednesday and Friday. The successful candidate will make significant contributions to our cloud modernisation project.
+ Assume the role of a key Software Engineer on a team working on the leading Email Security product on the market
+ Play a vital role in the delivery of ambitious new features and products from Engineering through to Production
+ Collaborate with Engineering and Product Management resources to analyze and refine requirements
+ Help resolving critical customer escalations
**What you bring to the team**
+ Self-motivated and can work independently, while also being able to partner closely with other engineers on a project
+ Passionate about building quality products and want to own development end-to-end, leading with the right design, and follow principles to deliver maintainable, performant and a predictable experience
+ Enjoy problem solving and challenging yourself, but you are not afraid to reach out when you need help
+ Experience in working collaboratively with Product Management, QA and Operations teams

**Technical Skills**
**Essential:**
+ Solid programming experience, ideally in Java
+ Experience of containerized applications, preferably using Kubernetes or similar orchestration tools
+ Experience with CI/CD Pipelines, microservices and distributed systems
+ Understanding of modern cloud infrastructure - ideally AWS/Azure
**Desirable**
+ Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform
+ Experience with OpenLDAP
+ Experience in Perl Development

**The Role**
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Security Engineer with a strong focus on Cloud/Data Centre Security Automation and DevSecOps to join our Security Engineering team.
In this role, you will lead initiatives to design, build, and scale cloud/data centre security automation from first principles, enabling secure-by-default infrastructure and secure software delivery pipelines. You will also bring deep hands-on experience with tools such as Tenable, Wiz, Veracode, Splunk and apply your expertise in scripting, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), and cloud-native security practices to improve posture, visibility, and response.
Based in Cork, Ireland this key role will drive key Cloud/Data Centre security initiatives for Proofpoint Product portfolio. This role offers a unique opportunity to own security automation strategy, shape DevSecOps pipelines, and influence the future of scalable security tooling in a fast-moving engineering environment.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Design and build automated cloud security controls using Terraform, CI/CD, and scripting (Python, Go)
+ Develop and scale infrastructure-as-code (IaC) security validation pipelines
+ Integrate and manage platform such as Tenable, Wiz, Veracode, Splunk etc. to orchestrate and automate security scans across infrastructure and application layers
+ Architect, build, and maintain security data pipelines to ingest, normalize, and analyze telemetry at scale
+ Build and support tools for asset inventory management, EDR deployment at scale, and compliance-driven discovery
+ Develop custom logic for automating remediation and enrichment of scan results
+ Collaborate with Engineering, DevOps, and GRC teams to integrate security controls into the SDLC and cloud deployments
+ Lead or contribute to threat modelling, risk assessments, and architecture reviews
**What You Bring to the Team**
+ Extensive experience in Security Engineering, Cloud Security, or DevSecOps roles
+ Thorough understanding of AWS, Azure, or GCP security models, IAM, and threat surfaces
+ Proven ability to build cloud-native security automation using Terraform (IaC), CI/CD tools and pipelines, Python/Go/Bash
+ Compliance knowledge with a grasp of NIST 800-53, and other regulatory frameworks
+ Experience building Enterprise-scale Asset management systems or platforms, EDR tooling deployment at scale, Security data pipelines and analytics frameworks
+ Experience with API-based integrations, webhooks, event-driven security automation
+ Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to drive cross-functional initiatives
**Beneficial Experience**
+ Experience with SIEMs, SOAR, or threat intel platforms
+ Experience with container security (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Falco, Trivy)
+ Familiarity with Secret Management (Vault, AWS Secrets Manager)
+ Exposure to managing Network IPS/IDS systems (such as Stamus/Suricata)
+ Exposure to compliance programs such as FedRAMP, SOC 2, or PCI-DSS
+ Certifications: CISSP, CSSLP, GWAPT, or equivalent are a plus
