Qualifications Required: Qualified lawyer with relevant PQE Experience Required: Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry (inhouse or within a legal firm) an advantage as would experience in another manufacturing industry. At least 5+ years of related work experience in life science industry or law firm. Fluent in English in both written and oral. Technical Competencies Required: Ability to analyse complex legal issues, Strong verbal & written communication skills with high ability to influence and negotiate. The Opportunity

An opportunity has arisen for a Legal Counsel position on the Glanbia Group Legal team based in Citywest, Dublin or Kilkenny City reporting to the General Counsel. You will work closely with the business to reduce legal risks and improve commercial position through negotiation of legal agreements, managing legal disputes and advising on compliance with legal requirements.

This is a permanent opportunity reporting into the General Counsel.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic legal advice and commercial guidance on a broad range of legal and contractual issues in a dynamic international environment
  • Review, draft and negotiate strategic legal agreements (including for the manufacture, development, supply, and distribution of products, vendor contracts for procurement and outsourcing of services and IT solutions). Advise on enforcement of contractual terms around termination, exclusivity, restrictive covenants and potential warranty / indemnity claims
  • Identify risks and provide practical legal advice on a broad range of areas including data protection/privacy, intellectual property, competition law, anti-money laundering and some employment / HR related matters
  • Manage and oversee any legal disputes, litigation, working closely with external legal counsel as necessary
  • Assist in managing the Group's intellectual property portfolio, including trademarks and patents. Advise on ownership, use and potential infringement activities
  • Participate in corporate M&A work including legal due diligence, drafting and negotiating purchase contracts, advising on integration issues post completion
  • Advise on legal aspects of on-going Project Work relating to business integration, rationalisation and optimisation
  • Assist with on-going updates to Glanbia company policies and provide training to internal business units
The Skills you will bring to the team
  • Law or Business Degree with a Professional Legal Qualification (Solicitor or international equivalent)
  • 5 years PQE either in a large / mid tier firm or in-house in a multi-national business
  • Have strong drafting, negotiating and communication skills
  • Have solid experience in commercial law gained in a fast paced dynamic environment, previous experience in a multinational corporation would be an advantage
  • Commercial Litigation experience is desirable
  • Intellectual Property experience is also desirable
  • Be able to work on own initiative and be motivated to deliver the legal department's value added agenda
  • Be able to multi-task and use a systematic and analytical approach to identifying issues and problem solving with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.

Reporting our Senior Legal Counsel, you'll be responsible for the delivery of high-quality, timely, and cost-effective legal advice to our Irish business. This position will include drafting and negotiation (from NDAs through to complex commercial agreements); and providing pragmatic commercial legal advice to facilitate the achievement of business objectives within the confines of the law.

  • You'll provide "solutions-orientated" commercial advice to the business

  • You'll coordinate the legal and governance integration of the new Irish business into the wider group
  • You'll advise the business units on UK, EEA and non-EEA state regulations governing the sale and distribution of general insurance product

  • You'll have both private practice and in-house legal experience
  • You'll have a background in financial services, and understand the regulatory requirements of the industry
  • You'll have relevant tertiary qualifications in Law with a current practising certificate and up-to-date knowledge of EU insurance law
  • You'll have strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders
  • You'll have a current practicing certificate in the UK or Ireland
  • You'll have prior experience working in Ireland and a comprehensive understanding of Irish legislation

The Opportunity This is an exciting role for a 5+ PQE lawyer with strong commercial experience, ideally gained in FMCG, food or beverage. Reporting into the Head of Legal in Dublin, you will be a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, shaping the legal framework of a fast-moving international business. You will: Act as the first point of contact for all UK legal matters, advising on commercial agreements, marketing initiatives and regulatory compliance. Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of contracts including sales, distribution, sponsorship, procurement, logistics and digital services. Advise on marketing and promotional activities, working closely with regulatory and IP colleagues. Lead on compliance initiatives across sustainability, data privacy, competition, anti-bribery and cyber security. Manage disputes, litigation and settlements, liaising with external counsel where required. Proactively identify risks and guide colleagues with practical, business-oriented solutions. About You The successful candidate will bring: 5+ years' PQE with a strong commercial contracts background. Previous in-house experience, ideally within FMCG or food & beverage. Intellectual property experience (preferred but not essential). A collaborative, commercially-minded approach with strong influencing and communication skills. Meissner are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Corporate Legal Counsel to join our growing legal and compliance team. The Corporate Counsel will be based out of our manufacturing site in Castlebar and will report directly to Meissner's Associate General Counsel. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in commercial contracts and general corporate legal matters, and who is comfortable working in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.

As Corporate Legal Counsel, you will serve as a trusted legal advisor and play a critical role in supporting our commercial operations, reviewing and negotiating contracts, supporting intellectual property prosecution, supporting HR and employee relations, and ensuring legal compliance across the organization globally. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across departments including sales, finance, HR, marketing, R&D, procurement, and compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Commercial Contracts & Support
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including supply agreements, vendor agreements, service agreements, NDAs, and licensing agreements.
  • Ensure contracts comply with applicable laws, internal policies, and industry best practices.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining contract templates, playbooks, and legal policies.
  • Provide timely, practical legal advice to business units including sales, procurement, operations, and R&D.
  • Assist in the implementation and optimization of internal legal processes and systems, including but not limited to developing expertise with our contract lifecycle management tool.
Corporate Governance & Compliance
  • Support corporate governance activities and assist with compliance matters.
  • Assist with the formation, dissolution, and maintenance of legal entities.
  • Stay current on relevant laws and regulations impacting the life sciences industry, including privacy, regulatory, and anti-bribery/anti-corruption considerations.
  • Provide legal support on matters involving cross-border transactions, intellectual property agreements, data privacy compliance (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, CPRA), employee relations, and corporate entity management across global operations.
Litigation & External Counsel Management
  • Assist with managing litigation, arbitration, government investigations, and administrative proceedings.
  • Collaborate with external counsel as needed on specialized legal matters.
Employment & Insurance Support
  • Support the coordination of insurance renewals and interactions with insurance brokers and carriers.
  • Provide legal support on employee relations and HR-related issues.
Qualifications, Education & Experience

  • Qualified solicitor in Ireland (or equivalent qualification within the EU).
  • Law Degree from an accredited law school/qualification (LLB or equivalent).
  • 5+ years post qualification experience in Corporate/Commercial law at a leading law firm, with in-house legal experience preferred.
  • Proven expertise in drafting, negotiating and advising on complex, commercial contracts and transactions.
  • Experience with cross-border transactions, intellectual property transactions, data privacy and protection (GDPR, CCPA, CPRA), employment law, entity formation and management and prior in-house experience is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Business acumen with the ability to balance legal risk and business strategy.
  • Proactively identifies emerging issues, potential impacts, and translate ideas and insights into viable recommendations.
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative environment with internal stakeholders, customers, suppliers, and peers.
  • Strong negotiation, interpersonal, writing, and communication skills with a business-oriented, collaborative approach.
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
Physical Demands

Occasional work may be done in an ISO Class 7 cleanroom environment. Powder free gloves, face masks, hairnets, gowns, and shoe covers must be worn. Because smokers continue to shed thousands of smoke particles even hours after smoking a cigarette and these particles will damage our products, only non-smokers are permitted to enter or work in the cleanroom. As a result, the successful candidate must be a nonsmoker.
