Role Overview:

We are seeking a contract CQV Engineer with proven experience in commissioning and qualification of equipment and utilities in a drug substance (DS) manufacturing environment. The successful contractor will play a critical role in delivering a fast-paced CQV program in line with GMP, project timelines, and regulatory expectations.

You'll be expected to work independently or as part of a cross-functional CQV team to author and execute qualification protocols, manage deviations, and support system handover for GMP operations.

Key Responsibilities:


• Deliver end-to-end CQV lifecycle documentation: URS, DQs, FAT/SAT, IQ, OQ, and support for PQ where applicable.


• Perform equipment and system commissioning, including verification of installation, utilities integration, control functionality, and safety systems.


• Lead CQV efforts on systems including (but not limited to):

  • Bioreactors and single-use technologies

  • Chromatography Columns

  • Clean-in-place (CIP) and steam-in-place (SIP) systems

  • WFI, clean steam, and process gases

  • Process tanks, skids, and associated piping


• Conduct impact assessments, risk assessments (e.g. ASTM E2500), and define appropriate qualification strategies.

• Support and lead the resolution of deviations, non-conformances, and change controls related to CQV scope.


• Maintain up-to-date and compliant documentation in line with GMP and data integrity requirements.


• Provide progress updates and contribute to system readiness reviews and handover milestones.

Experience:


• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, or related technical field.


• Minimum 5 years' CQV experience in a GMP-regulated drug substance or biologics manufacturing environment.


• Demonstrated hands-on experience with commissioning and qualification of:

  • Large-scale bioprocess equipment

  • Utility systems (WFI, HVAC, compressed gases, clean steam)

  • Automation-integrated equipment (DeltaV)


• Deep understanding of CQV best practices, ISPE Baseline Guides, GAMP 5, and ASTM E2500.


• Experience working on capital projects, preferably from construction to handover.


• Ability to work independently on protocol development, execution, and resolution management.

Required Qualifications And Experience

The Networks Engineering department in ESB Engineering & Major Projects is the centre of engineering design and project delivery for ESB's Transmission & Distribution deliverables, as well as providing consultancy services in T&D technology for external clients.

The Commissioning & SCS Teams in the Networks Engineering department provide a highly specialised commissioning service for both domestic and international clients. This involves the verification that the HV Substation equipment and schemes have been fully validated so that a declaration of fitness certificate may be issued to the System Controller confirming that the equipment is fit for connection to the relevant HV system.

The Electrical Engineer who is appointed to this role will use their experience in the High voltage sector to operate as a commissioning engineer to deliver multi discipline projects in ESB HV Substations across Ireland. The Commissioning Engineer will interface with various teams across Networks Engineering to optimize the delivery of HV projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate as a full member of a commissioning team which will be regionally based in Ireland, but with flexibility to operate across other parts of the country where business needs require it.
  • Lead complex commissioning projects in high voltage substations, ensuring equipment meets all technical requirements before going into service.
  • Perform and assess all on site testing associated with HV Commissioning
  • Provide technical support, training, and advice to existing and new members of the commissioning & Design teams to develop their competency, leading mentor projects in process.

Knowledge & Qualifications

Essential

Location

The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects associated with the Commissioning of products manufactured by Liebherr Container Cranes. The cranes manufactured have high capital value and include electrical equipment for H.V distribution, PLC's, controller drives and IT technology. Key elements of the Role
Responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Acting as company representative when on site as a member or lead of the site/commissioning team.
  • Liaise with design, production, service and Installation departments
  • Commissioning of cranes in-house and after installation on site
  • Commissioning, testing and handover of the equipment.
  • Testing and completion of handover documentation and formalities on project completion

What the Job Involves.

  • Provide engineering and technical support to plan, schedule, coordinate and execute full life cycle commissioning of critical facilities.

We're Looking for Someone Who.

  • Has experience of commissioning mechanical systems in a data center or large commercial/industrial setting – typically 500kVA or above. OR a number of years' experience in a senior commissioning role with the ability to interpret the same, in lieu of this a technical background.
  • Is able to determine and interpret data from various sources such as external PQM waveforms, data logs etc.
  • Is able to determine pass/fail criteria.
  • Is conversant in data center topologies across varied designs: N+1, N+2, 2N etc.
  • Fault finding/trouble-shooting knowledge of various integrated systems such as HVAC/chillers/CRAC units.
  • Is able to interpret overall design intent of integrated systems and advise on various operational aspects to ensure the system will perform correctly. This will be determined through both through design reviews and on-site knowledge.
  • Has working knowledge of network and communications – Modbus/ethernet, SCADA systems etc.
  • Has an understanding of data center commissioning levels and the requirements to move from level-to-level.
  • Has knowledge of scheduling/planning/reporting.
