Design Manager
who
will report to and support the Head of Design in ensuring that a consistent high-quality design is delivered across the portfolio of commercial and residential projects and will work across functions in order to improve standard and quality of product, while also introducing efficiencies.
Duties:
- Manage the design process during the preconstruction stage and throughout the construction stage using commercial, contractual, programme/time awareness and technical expertise and always endeavour to identify VE opportunities.
- Manage and coordinate specialist subcontractor design input and facilitate workshops to agree/establish timelines
- Manage the involvement of the design team input and approval process of the supply chain
- Develop relationships with design team and project stakeholders during early concept stages; manage expectations of the project through regular communication and discussions regarding requirements and specifications.
- Manage construction design team meetings and record minutes and issue to the team and follow up on actions
- Contribute and assist with the appointment and vetting of the Design Team and evaluate the Design Team performance
- Contribute and assist to ensure terms and conditions of appointment/novation are acceptable
- Establish and maintain effective communication channels between design team and the wider departments as required
- Ensure design information is of the right quality and keeps pace with project timescales. Design information/package to be coordinated with the procurement programme
- Attend Planning, Construction and Design Team meetings to monitor and record progress of actions and identify problems
- Maintain a professional image for the Company in all dealings with public and stakeholders
- Other ad hoc duties that the Company may require from time to time
Requirements:
- The ideal candidate will be qualified in Architecture or Engineering with significant post graduate experience, preferably working with a developer on large residential projects
- A good understanding on statutory and regulatory compliance and an ability to review and comment on designs and track design team performance
- Experience using AutoCAD. BIM/Revit experience desirable
- A high level of organisation ability and IT literacy
- An ability to work with and manage the design team, specialist designers and subconsultants
- Experience using Aconex is desirable
