**This is how you can make a difference at Abbott:**
As a Senior Technical Engineer Control Systems, you will provide technical leadership in areas of PLC communications, vision and RFID communications while driving activities at the supplier(s) to ensure automation & software support is available to scale up to increased volumes are achieved within ADC requirements. You will lead the technical, and Validation engineering staff. Interface with product team members, department managers, designers/equipment manufacturers, ADC R&D, quality, and regulatory personnel. This role will be based at our TPM in Fermoy, Cork and will require project related travel up to 30%.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Oversee the implementation and management of engineering modifications to boost operational effectiveness.
+ Independently devise and execute creative strategies for tackling complex engineering challenges, leveraging advanced technical expertise across various disciplines.
+ Lead and design intricate engineering studies and experiments that involve multiple variables to achieve robust solutions.
+ Evaluate complex issues, determine their effects, and calculate probabilities to guide informed decisions.
+ Establish comprehensive design and process specifications that align with overarching business objectives.
+ Ensure all documentation is completed promptly and adheres to corporate standards.
+ Take the lead and collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to fulfill company goals.
+ Adhere to all relevant Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations, policies, and procedures.
+ Exhibit exceptional interpersonal, communication, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
+ Demonstrate self-drive, adaptability, and readiness to work extended hours to meet stringent deadlines.
+ Practice effective time management and resource planning.
**Education and Experience:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
+ Minimum of 6 years of engineering and/or operational experience to cultivate the skills necessary for this position.
+ Proficient in PLC programming with Allen Bradley, Siemens, or Codesys control systems.
+ In-depth knowledge of Cognex vision systems.
+ Familiarity with RFID communication systems.
+ Experience in developing and executing software testing plans.
+ Knowledgeable in FAT, SAT, commissioning, and validation processes for high-speed automation equipment.
