What's the opportunity?
- The Data Infrastructure team builds distributed systems and tools supporting Intercom and empowering people with information. As the company grows, so does the volume and velocity of our data and the appetite for more-and-more sophisticated and specialized, often AI-assisted, data solutions.
- Our team builds, maintains, evolves, and extends the data platform, enabling our partners to self-serve by creating their own end-to-end data workflows, from ingestion through transforming data and evaluating experiments to analyzing usage and running predictive models. We provide a solid data foundation to support various highly impactful business and product-focused projects.
- We're looking for a Data Infrastructure engineer to join us and collaborate on large-scale data-related infrastructure initiatives, who is passionate about providing solid foundations for providing high quality data to our consumers.
What will I be doing?
- Evolve the Data Platform by designing and building the next generation of the stack.
- Develop, run and support our data pipelines using tools like Airflow, PlanetScale, Kinesis, Snowflake, Tableau, all in AWS.
- Collaborate with product managers, data engineers, analysts and data scientists to develop tooling and infrastructure to support their needs.
- Develop automation and tooling to support the creation and discovery of high quality analytics data in an environment where dozens of changes can be shipped daily.
- Implement systems to monitor our infrastructure, detect and surface data quality issues and ensure Operational Excellence

About You
- You have 3+ years of full-time, professional work experience in the data space using Python and SQL.
- You have solid experience building and running data pipelines for large and complex datasets including handling dependencies.
- You have hands-on cloud provider experience (preferably AWS) including service integrations and automation via CLI and APIs.
- You have a solid understanding of data security practices and are passionate about privacy.
- You have some DevOps experience
- You care about your craft
In addition it would be a bonus if you have
- Worked with Apache Airflow - we use Airflow extensively to orchestrate and schedule all of our data workflows. A good understanding of the quirks of operating Airflow at scale would be helpful.
- Experience or understanding of tools and technologies included in the modern data stack ( Snowflake, DBT )
- Industry awareness of up-and-coming technologies and vendors.

to oversee

Main Duties & Responsibilities
Cloud Strategy and Optimization
- Maintain and optimise AWS infrastructure, including
S3 storage, EC2 instances, RDS, and data transfer workflows
. - Collaborate with processing, data, and development teams to evaluate and implement optimal cloud solutions tailored to support survey operations and data workflows.
- Design and develop modular cloud-based systems, focusing primarily on AWS, to support both operational and machine learning pipelines.

Requirements: Essential Skills / Attributes and Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, IAM, CloudWatch, VPC, etc.).
- Expertise in cost optimisation and AWS billing management (AWS Cost Explorer, Savings Plans, Reserved Instances).
- Familiarity with data transfer, networking, and security best practices in cloud environments.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot cloud performance and efficiency issues.
- Ability to document, train, and guide teams on AWS best practices.
- Bachelor's /Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- At least seven years of experience in the field of cloud computing/ cloud architecting.

Qualifications:

- Minimum 3 years working with Azure AVD deployments and experience with tools like Nerdio a plus.

- Leverage tools like Nerdio and Azure Virtual Desktop to streamline processes, ensure seamless access, and resource allocation across multiple global instances, ensuring consistency and optimization.
- Monitor and optimize cloud costs in both Azure and AWS using tools such as Azure Cost Management and AWS Cost Explorer. Track and manage cloud spend, ensuring efficient resource utilization and adherence to budget constraints.

Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in computer science or practical experience in a technical field involving large, complex cloud environments is required. Microsoft Azure/AWS and other IT Certifications are a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in comparable role with at least 3 years of recent experience managing Azure Cloud Services
- Minimum 3 years working with Azure AVD deployments and experience with tools like Nerdio a plus.
- Experience working with managed service providers, cloud services, hosted solutions, and Windows server environments.

As an Infrastructure Datacentre Team Leader, you will lead a team of technical engineers based across multiple Dublin sites, overseeing the physical infrastructure assets within our Data Centres.
The Data Centre operations team is responsible for the commissioning and decommissioning of all physical assets and for providing onsite hardware support across our global data centre estate.
As a leader within this team, you will have experience working in large Data Centre environments and have previous experience managing teams of Infrastructure Data Centre Engineers or similar. Adherence to timeframes and installation standards is critical to this role.
This role is part of a wider, globally distributed team with members based across the UK, Ireland, and North America. You will be primarily focused on working within the Dublin data centres.
The team is integral to the Company's success, ensuring the underlying infrastructure is deployed and maintained to the highest standards.
There will also be a requirement for some international travel.
