**A Day in The Life Of:**
+ As a Sr. Principal engineer you will be an active technical leader in key new product development including the following: Design, Technology
+ development & advancement, Automation, Vendor management & Project management.
+ Provide leadership in manufacturing technology innovation strategy across the department
+ Required to progress a project from concept phase into commercialization phase and play a lead role on the product /process /engineering /leadership fronts
+ Required to assess risk and resolve technical challenges with existing processes and technologies.
+ You will use Design, Reliability & Manufacturability (DRM) or similar methodology, 3-D drawing/ printing and Augmented reality to develop best in class technologies for the manufacture of our new medical device product ranges.
+ You will collaborate with cross functional teams to define, execute and deliver on New Product Development requirements.
+ You will lead teams driving technology process innovation with emphasis on improving quality, reducing variation and developing state of the art automated and semi-automated systems.
+ You will lead and support process development, characterization and validation activities to support new product introduction.
+ Partake in cross site Technical Forums and build a network within the technical community.
+ Define and implement strategic goals in the technical community in line with the business unit strategy.
**Key Skills & Experience**
+ Third Level 8 Degree or higher in Electronic, Electrical, Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering or related discipline and desirably with 10+ years' experience in a similar role.
+ This role is primarily technical in nature; thus we seek someone who is passionate about Engineering concepts and principles - someone who gets a thrill from how and why things work.
+ Must be a proven SME in equipment development, process development, process characterization and have a strong proven track record in innovation and project/ program management.
+ Must have excellent project management skills and a history of co-ordinating workload, including multiple complex process characterizations & equipment across a PD team at various levels.
+ Must have experience using DRM practices & Metrics such as PCX, WFX and participated in or led DFMA workshops.
+ Must be a seasoned professional in engineering development with extensive engineering knowledge and skills in some or all of the following: Concept development and selection, technology evaluation, driving innovative solutions to complex problems, process design and development, materials (polymers and metals), design for six sigma principles, CAD (Solidworks preferred), statistical techniques, process validation and control.
+ Good communicator and fluent in English, with a high level of enthusiasm and motivation.
+ Good organizational, presentation and project management skills are necessary.
+ You are a proven influencer and exhibit skills in driving large scale technical initiatives.

For our in-house composites engineering department, CompositesLab, we are looking for a bright and enthusiastic Design & Analysis Development Engineer with a passion for and deep understanding of composite structures and materials to join our team in Galway, Ireland.

CompositesLab is one of ATG's internal engineering business units, with team members based in the Netherlands, Ireland and Italy. Our small and enthusiastic team is composed of multidisciplinary top-talented engineers, with a diverse international background.

Since 2013, CompositesLab has been developing game-changing composite CFRP lattice and grid-stiffened structure technologies. This technology provides optimised structural solutions that are mass-efficient and cost-effective, allowing our customers to meet the stringent constraints of space applications. Initially developed internally at ATG and further supported through several large-scale ESA development programmes, the technology has now advanced to a level where real space applications are being realised. These applications include components for launchers (e.g. interstage and upper stage structures), satellite structures (e.g. central cylinders), and multi-payload adapters.

Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage).

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:

  • Top level design and system engineering on composite technologies and products;
  • CAD modelling and design;
  • FE modelling, analysis, and optimization;
  • Setting up and improving design, analysis, and optimization procedures;
  • Reporting and documentation;
  • Supporting design for manufacturing activities;
  • Supporting or partaking in manufacturing of components;
  • Supporting or partaking in testing of components;
  • Supporting the preparation of business proposals;
  • Organizing, performing and supervising various research activities;
  • Interfacing with customers as part of projects or business development.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in engineering (aerospace or mechanical);
  • Between 2 to 6 years of relevant work experience;
  • Ability to work autonomously across multiple disciplines;
  • Affinity with fiber-reinforced composite materials and structures;
  • Knowledge of design and optimization methods, analytical and numerical, from conceptual design to detailed optimization methods;
  • Experience with FE model setup and analysis and optimization, preferably of composites;
  • Experience with commercial FE tools (preferably FEMAP with NX/MSC Nastran);
  • Experience with dynamic analysis including sine and random vibration;
  • Experience with CAD software (preferably CATIA V5);
  • Affinity and preferably experience with manufacturing methods for composites;
  • Affinity and experience with manufacturing processes for metals is an advantage;
  • Awareness of the advantages, disadvantages, and limitations of analysis and manufacturing methods;
  • Basic programming skills (preferably in Python);
  • Experience of working with ECSS standards and requirements is advantageous;
  • Well organized and capable of organizing an efficient workflow;
  • Capable of working in an ambitious team with occasional peaks in workload;
  • Open-minded attitude, with a capability to challenge industry standards;
  • Personal initiative and thirst for improvement and developing new skills;
  • Willing to travel for work;
  • At least a rudimentary sense of humor is appreciated.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken;
  • Ability to work and live in the EU.

Design Engineer
reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will be responsible to develop and refine product designs, bridging the gap between concept and deployment while achieving product cost targets. Utilize CAD and CAE software to create models, conduct research, and pre-production designs. Ensure products are functional, meet stakeholder requirements and are cost-effective. To be successful in this role the design engineer has a strong understanding of the products, raw materials, and technically competent the manufacturing process. Design for Manufacturing is a primary focus along with understanding the needs of the customer with regards to product requirements and plays a key role in bringing innovative ideas to life.

This Role Is Responsible For

  • Create and refine product designs from initial concept to product approval.
  • Review Design Verification, Validation (DVP&R) test results and ensures the design and pre-series phases of the project.
  • Identify design problems, anticipate production issues and make recommendations for improvement during the DFMEA and PFMEA process.
  • Following the design for manufacturing methodology make sure that the product you're working on is designed in a way that makes it possible to build.
  • Utilize specific CAD and CAE software to create models and update designs accordingly.
  • Work in cross-functional and global teams to ensure successful product development.
  • Maintain records of designs, test results and other relevant information used to improve future product designs.
  • Identify and resolve design issues throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Be environmentally and socially astute, always considering opportunities to reduce carbon footprint and support community activities/events.
  • Proactively interface with other departments; sales, quality, production, and purchasing.
  • Align with CMMC AT. L2-3.2.1, 3.2.2, and 3.2.3, this role involves access to Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) at the highest security level. The individual must perform all assigned tasks in a manner that ensures no exposure of unclassified information to unauthorized personnel.
  • Successful completion of all required ITAR, CMMC, and Cybersecurity training is mandatory
  • Performs other duties as required and/or requested.

Your Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field from a four-year college or university.
  • 3+ years of direct related technical experience in engine thermal management experience preferred.
