The Employee Relations Consultant will provide day-to-day support on a variety of employee relations issues, and is responsible for policy interpretation, information gathering, and resolution of issues consistent with UnitedHealth Group's (UHG) model of employment policies and practices.
Employee Relations Consultant will manage complex employee relations issues for managers and employees in entry to mid-level roles and may assist ER Leaders with cases involving more senior level employees/leaders as needed.
You will support the Business on a wide variety of employee relations issues and will provide consultation and advice to the team to ensure consistent application of company policies, as well as compliance with relevant employment law
**Schedule** : Full-time position Monday - Friday with standard working hours.

**Primary Responsibilities:**
+ Consults with People Business Partners, Managers, and Employees to provide guidance on the employee relations model and to facilitate the resolution of issues consistent with policies and practices
+ Handles performance, disciplinary, grievance, TUPE and termination issues for managers while following the appropriate case escalation and notification guidelines based on the subject matter. Ensure all documentation and full employee consultation is followed in line with local requirements and in line with policy
+ Handles all sickness cases with business leaders. including occupational health referrals, review meetings, capability reviews and required accommodations
+ Completes research from all available resources for due diligence to mitigate risk
+ Resolves problems by clarifying issues; researching questions and exploring answers and alternative solutions, and consulting with others, as needed, prior to recommending appropriate actions
+ Sense of urgency and competency to handle emergency "One Breath" situations according to UHG protocols
+ Effectively and efficiently handles a call schedule from employees or managers
+ Provide analytic insights for the region, including the preparation of documentation for the leadership meetings and implementation of Service Now changes in the region
+ Audit responsibility ISO, WRC review, plan, and process improvement
+ Policy reviews and contribution for formation
+ Manager training on ER learning, trends and mitigation strategies
+ Manage escalated and complex cases for managers and employees and support sickness absence cases
+ Coaching and working with People Business Partners involving more senior level employees/leaders as needed
+ Workload through report monitoring and case assignments (for EMEA this can take up to one year to resolve)
+ Provide support and backup including, vendor management, facilitating team meetings, new hire and cross-functional training, and case management
+ Assist in identifying process improvements for process and policy, contributing to innovative solutions, and make recommendations regarding policies and procedures
+ Acts as a resource for others with less experience and provides analytical review and feedback

**Required Qualifications:**
+ Experience in employee relations
+ CIPD Level 7 qualified or CIPD Level 5 qualified but willing to study Level 7
+ Knowledge of employment law; EMEA knowledge of local legislation specifically UK & Ireland
**Preferred Qualifications of the Employee Relations Consultant:**
+ BS or BA Degree
+ Windows, Excel, Word, PeopleSoft skills
+ Consulting experience
**Soft Skills:**
+ Verbal and written communication and documentation skills.
+ Credibility, and ability to influence at a senior level with strong stakeholder management skills Proven experience in conflict resolution
+ Coaching skills
+ Ability to work independently

Description of Responsibilities;

Support the Head of HR in implementing HR initiatives across the company

Prepare compliant HR-related documentation including contracts, letters and reports. 

Review and enhance onboarding and induction programs, ensuring a seamless integration for new hires.

Coordinate training initiatives and monitor employee development progress.

Assist with the performance management process, including scheduling performance reviews and tracking goal progress.

Maintain up-to-date employee records and HR files

Ensure data integrity and consistency across all HR systems and databases.

Provide user support and training on the HR CRM while working with Continuous Improvement team to resolve any technical issues.

Requirements

Minimum of 3 years' experience in HR. 

Bachelors degree or CIPD in Human Resources is desirable.

Strong understanding of Irish employment law and HR best practice.

High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Consult and provide training, advice, counsel, and resolution to employees and managers on a broad range of employee relations matters, including policy interpretation and application, local employment laws, conflict resolution, performance management, progressive discipline, reductions in force and other separations of employment. Conduct robust investigations into employee complaints and allegations of misconduct in a timely, fair, and balanced way. Identify and assess the scale and scope of alleged or confirmed conduct that is deemed inappropriate, impermissible, or unacceptable. Partner with legal counsel as needed. Leads and develop team to effectively handle employee relations issues and concerns, minimizing corporate risk and improving employee experience. Provide leadership and support to the HR Operations team to ensure operational excellence and labor compliance in all jurisdictions. Ensure local legal compliance in areas such as contract and personnel file management. Lead or participate in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures. Partner with Business Partners, Centers of Excellence (COEs), internal and external legal counsel, Compliance, and other internal investigative bodies, as necessary to reach an effective resolution for employee matters. Provide insight and interpretation to managers and employees regarding relevant employment principles and complex employee relations issues, especially those requiring an explanation or interpretation of employment law, principles of effective performance management, workplace investigations, and critical incident management. Identify gaps in process, policies and practices; Lead cross-functional teams to close gaps and optimize policies, processes or programs. Lead, manage and develop team for high performance on ongoing skill and career growth. Ensure clear roles, responsibilities, goals and feedback for success. Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement; be bold in driving change PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Strong ER experience gained through increasingly responsible positions within Human Resources with a focus on employee relations and people management. Strong people leadership skills focused on coaching and collaboration. Experience leading complex projects and organizational change, driving operational excellence and improved employee experience. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English. Ability to prioritize work and navigate ambiguity in a high growth, fast paced matrix environment. Demonstrated ability to drive results through individual efforts and influencing others, without authority over them, including with HR and Business Leaders. Excellent customer service and relationship management skills with the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, diplomacy, tact, and business acumen. Objective and trusted advisor; credible employee advocate with the ability to work on a global team and manage remote employees. Proficient in Microsoft tools, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint. Ability to travel, on limited basis as needed (15%).
