Senior Energy Consultant
is to lead technical energy audits, surveys and assist in project implementation across industrial manufacturing sites in europe and globally. Work with Energy management partners to deliver projects providing direct energy benefits and innovative funding options (grants/credit schemes). Review energy reports to identify discrepancies in usage patterns and to extract energy savings opportunities from the usage patterns.

We are currently seeking applications for a trainee energy consultant. All training will be provided and paid for. The candidate will start off as a domestic BER assessor in an environment where the necessary experience will be gained to develop into an experienced energy consultant. This could be an exciting new career as a professional in a rapidly growing industry.
The role of an energy consultant typically involves three days in the office and two days surveying properties. The successful candidate will be focused on providing technical specifications and advice for customers, most of whom are contractors carrying out energy retrofits.
Our office is based in Tullyallen Village, Co. Louth and so there is no commute to Dublin in rush hour traffic. In addition we do not operate on a rigid schedule for office days and use flexible working hours i.e. start early and early finish or vice versa. There is full use of a company vehicle at all times and so no commuting costs.
Requirements:
- The entry requirements to become a registered BER assessor are either:
- A) Minimum QQI Level 6 in a construction related qualification,
- B) Minimum QQI Level 6 in a non construction related qualification, but with at least two years relevant construction experience,
- Ideally candidates would have a qualification in building surveying, construction studies, engineering, architectural technology, project management, civil engineering or similar, however, this is not a requirement and all candidates will be considered,
- Full clean driving license.

Cork Energy Consultancy Ltd. is a fully SEAI-registered company that has been serving clients across Ireland since 2009. Our mission is to meet the increasing demand for expert, independent advice in the energy efficiency, design, and certification sectors. We specialize in providing deep retrofit design services, Building Energy Rating (BER) certification, and technical assessments for homeowners and one-stop-shop providers accessing SEAI funding. Our team also offers guidance on home energy improvements and provides actionable roadmaps for achieving energy efficiency goals.
In addition, our commercial division specializes in energy audits, retrofit energy efficiency design (EED) services, non-domestic BER certification, and compliance certification for new builds and major renovation.
We are looking for a motivated and qualified individual to join our team. The successful applicant will be responsible for completing domestic and commercial surveys, preparing energy assessments/energy audits, and providing recommendations for comprehensive energy upgrades. Training will be provided as necessary.
Applicants must have completed a BER course or be eligible to register as a BER assessor with SEAI.
Responsibilities:
- Organize workloads and schedule site visits
- Complete pre-works surveys on properties and publish pre-works BER
- Prepare energy audits/home energy assessments outlining the pathway to a full deep retrofit or heat pump installation eligibility
- Prepare post-works BER in line with SEAI requirements
- Coordinate with clients and contractors as needed
- Update project management systems regularly
Requirements:
- Minimum of two years' relevant experience
- BER Assessor must have completed the QQI Level 6 course – BER Rating of Dwellings and be registered with or eligible to register with SEAI
- One or more of the following qualifications: Construction trade or Level 7 qualification in a Building Construction-related course
- Full driving license
- Strong knowledge of construction materials and building services
- High attention to detail with a commitment to quality
- Excellent verbal, written, and customer engagement skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and handle a high volume of work
- Ability to complete tasks accurately and efficiently
Desirable Skills:
- Proficiency in DEAP 4.2 software (used by BER assessors)
- Knowledge of Irish building regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel
- Competency in measuring surface areas
- Experience in using dynamic simulation tools (IES or Design builder)
- Own vehicle

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage a pipeline of prospective clients interested in home energy upgrades and renewable energy solutions.
- Advise homeowners, businesses, and partners on the SEAI grant process, project timelines, technical upgrade options, and financial implications.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, architects, and local authorities to drive business development.
- Conduct site or virtual consultations to assess energy needs and recommend tailored retrofit solutions.
- Collaborate with internal technical, design, and compliance teams to ensure projects meet SEAI guidelines, are accurately scoped, and delivered efficiently.
- Prepare and present clear, persuasive proposals outlining upgrade options, payback periods, and ROI.
- Stay up to date with changes in SEAI schemes, building regulations, and the wider renewable energy landscape.
- Oversee contracts and negotiations, ensuring alignment with customer expectations and regulatory requirements.
- Track all leads, sales activities, and project progress using CRM software.
- Contribute to post-sales client support and long-term relationship management to encourage repeat business and referrals.
- Support the development of marketing strategies and promotional initiatives.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience in renewable energy sales, construction, or home energy retrofit projects.
- Strong knowledge of SEAI grant schemes (One Stop Shop, Better Energy Homes, Community Energy Grants, etc.).
- BER Assessor qualification or solid working knowledge of BER principles and building energy performance (desirable).
- Background in construction, engineering, or energy efficiency highly preferred.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with a customer-first mindset.
- Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets.
- Ability to understand technical drawings, building plans, and compliance documentation.
- Proficient in CRM tools, Microsoft Office, and digital communication platforms.
- Self-motivated, highly organized, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
