Job description: Field Service Engineer Job Description Location: Field & workshop based Department: Fannin Engineering Reports to: Engineering manager The Field Service Engineer is responsible for performing the on-site and workshop installation, IQ, OQ, service, maintenance, validation, upgrade, calibration and repair of complex equipment and systems. The role involves dealing directly and closely with device operators, their managers, manufactures technical departments and Fannin sales teams. The role includes the investigation of faults and the approval and sign off of documentation and checklists certifying the correct functioning of devices and systems. Application support and the provision of customer operational and maintenance training is a key element of the role. The field service engineer serves as the company liaison with customer on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects. This role reports directly to the Engineering manager. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Fault finding, service and repair of medical, Lab and life science equipment Organising and scheduling service and repair calls Arranging appointments and visits with service users Monitoring and managing outstanding call list Updating IT service and repair system Requisitioning spare parts with procurement team Managing own spare part stock Attending training courses and refresher training as required (Mostly abroad). Develop control panel BOM's
Develop ISA data sheets for temperature, level, flow, and pressure transmitters along with ISA data sheets for control valves, positioners, analytical, and various other types of instrumentation.
Develop drawings for control panels, power distribution, junction boxes. Included in the drawings are the general arrangement, internal layout, schematics and interconnection and wire diagrams.
Develop logic diagrams in the International Automation format for complex logic devices such as Programmable Logical Controller and Distributed Control System.
Prepare cable, routing plans and schedules.
Perform inspections, testing, and commission of the facility systems.
Provide technical assistance as needed to internal customers.
Coordinate project work internally within the department and externally with other departments to ensure on-time completion of projects within budget.

Basic Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a passion for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of lab instruments. Strategic thinking and the ability to align equipment management with the broader goals of the organization are essential. Key Responsibilities:This person will be responsible for the delivery and operational management of the lab asset management processes & systems. Design and implement the laboratory equipment asset system, along with their supporting lifecycle management processes. Manage and maintain all laboratory equipment, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to safety standards. Provide clear visibility of all laboratory equipment and their associated asset lifecycle costs. Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment/instrument technical issues, collaborating closely with vendors and service providers for repairs and replacements. Using Asset management principles to guide specification of KPI's for Lab Operations program. Deliver dashboard(s) that provide clear performance reporting for each type of lab asset Will be a prominent change leader for new processes interacting with both internal & external vendors, global procurement, and scientific functions. Partner with Automation and IT to align data consistency & reporting relating to lab equipment assets. Apply standard data analysis practices and techniques to establish root cause for product and process failures or to support the justification for improvements to products and processes. Contribute to the strategic planning of laboratory operations, aligning equipment management with the organization's long-term objectives. Review procedures and CAPEX equipment plans prior to implementation as well as existing ones for failure analysis and potential improvements. Oversee equipment asset lifecycle management, ensuring timely preventive maintenance and accurate repair documentation in the Computerized Maintenance Management System. Strong fault-finding expertise to identify faults or issues with lab equipment to ensure quick turnaround of equipment for maximum uptime. Coordinate and/or conduct training sessions for laboratory personnel on the proper use and care of equipment. Stay informed about the latest advancements in laboratory technology and recommend upgrades as necessary. Work in partnership with Engineering Reliability Team to develop and maintain reliability program for lab equipment Develop FMEA's or similar for existing and new lab equipment to identify key objectives or priorities for asset life management Adhere to all safety, environmental, security and quality requirements including, but not limited to: Safety & Environmental Management Systems, Quality Management Systems (QMS) regulations, company policies and operating procedures, and other regulatory requirements. Facilitate or contribute to corrective and preventive actions while supporting the achievement of Biologics CoE SQDEC standards as well as 5S principles. Qualifications & Skills: Bachelor or Master's degree in engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Biomedical Engineering. Minimum of 5 years of experience in lab equipment management or a related field. Experience of Reliability programs and management Proven expertise in the maintenance and repair of laboratory instruments. Strong strategic thinking abilities and experience in integrating equipment management with organizational goals. Proficient in the use of Excel, Power Point and Visio software. Familiar with basic Data analytics and statistical methods. Proficiency with CMMS & Power BI would be an advantage. Demonstrated results through Lean practices and principles. We are looking for a **Facilities Engineer** (Permanent role) to join our teams between counties Louth, Meath and Dublin. This is a Monday to Friday position, 100% on-site.
**Objectives:**
+ Consult with Engineering team on maintenance requirements and Preventative Maintenance work. Troubleshooting on Facilities issues.
+ Manage and maintain all facilities, utility, equipment, and grounds.
+ Review and develop plant upgrade / modification proposals.
+ Management and contribution of the maintenance system for the Facilities Engineering Group.
+ Ensure that all Building Repairs and Upgrades are maintained to Pharmaceutical Standards.
**Knowledge / Skills & Experience:**
+ Ensure that the facilities documentation is completed, maintained, and reviewed accordingly and in compliance with all GMP guidelines.
+ Manage Contracts: Utilities / Security / Cleaning / Pest Control / Landscaping / Fire Protection / Security Alarms / Camera's / Access control / garments and Waste Management.
+ Control of Facility Engineering contractors including pre-qualification, site entry, induction, permit to work, method statements, LOTO, work inspections and exit from site.
+ Identify and implement measures to affect savings in all energy costs.
+ Updating relevant SOP's, documentation, and technical papers.
+ Implementation of recycling initiatives.
+ Liaise and work with the Facilities Engineering team to ensure that all plant related duties are successfully conducted.
+ Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives (TPM, Lean, 6 Sigma, Shingo.).
+ Assist and in cases lead technical improvements under the department's continuous improvement program.
+ Demonstrate excellent communication and assertiveness skills with strong mindfulness.
+ Plan and manage small/ medium capital projects in the department to successful completion.
+ Work closely with the H&S Department to ensure that all relevant environmental and safety requirements in the plant are met.
+ Perform Validations as required on various Facilities systems.
+ Manage all relevant maintenance/facilities budgets.
+ Coordinate the implementation of remedial actions identified in audits.
+ Work with PCI Engineering teams on various Facilities related projects.
+ Work in close collaboration with other related functions to deliver required outputs on a 24/7 shift basis.
+ Work closely with Site stakeholders to successfully deliver outputs and capacity enhancement projects.
+ Provide technical support for new product introduction and product transfers.
+ Address and effectively manage documentation issues arising from engineering activities.
+ Work in close collaboration with equipment vendors to address any performance issues.
+ Defining, controlling, and documenting engineering operations practices.
+ Leading risk assessments and gap assessments for new processes, new equipment, and modified equipment.
+ Lead and Attend Daily Handover meetings to review issues or by delegation where required.
+ To organise and supervise outside contractors i.e. calibration / service contracts / cleaning.
+ To maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and GMP always proven track record of showing how results were delivered through management/leadership of others.
+ To undertake additional tasks as assigned by the Engineering Director / Facilities Manager or those designated by the Engineering Director.
+ Capability to set clear goals, communicate these clearly and ensure progress to completion meeting predefined targets.
**Requirements:**
+ Degree in Engineering (mechanical/electrical) is essential.
+ At least 2- 5 years' experience in a similar role in a GMP-regulated / FMEA manufacturing inc. audit experience desirable.
+ Exposure to facilities equipment best-practice maintenance including CMMS and RCM.
+ History in Continuous Improvement and lean production / engineering techniques.
+ Excellent written/verbal communicator and good documentation skills.
+ Good collaborator with ability to work on own initiative with minimal direction.
+ Numerate with good financial/budgeting skills.
+ Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office family of products / AutoCAD is an advantage.
