+ Develops and/or identifies new work processes and the improved utilization of human and material resources within the operations function.
+ Engage and participate in supporting the delivery of Business unit's KPI's.
+ Oversee the development of operational standards to be used in the plant for capacity evaluations, budget planning and as a basic for operational measures (Key performance indicator).
+ Continuously improve the performance of the business by providing technical solutions to operations issues.
+ Provide leadership and direction to the business unit on technology development and application within the manufacturing process.
**What You Need:**
+ Level 8 degree in an Engineering or Science discipline.
+ 4 years relevant experience in a team based regulated manufacturing environment, and ideally previous supervisory experience.
+ Good knowledge of GMP / FDA regulatory requirements and current Health and Safety Regulations legislation.
+ Proven experience practicing Lean tools.
+ Business understanding of operations and their impacts essential.
+ High level of PC skills.
+ Strong communication skills with both Internal and external agents.
+ An ability to facilitate a team of engineers to deliver a specific objective.
+ An above average level of emotional intelligence.
+ Flexibility essential with strong project management skills.
+ The individual should enjoy working in an aggressive, dynamic and results motivated team-based environment

+ Requires a high level of attention to detail and mental concentration, to ensure accuracy and total compliance with procedures at all times.
+ Requires proven problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to new regulatory requirements.

Our client, a leading organisation in the port infrastructure industry, are seeking to hire an experienced Engineering Manager to join their dynamic and experienced team in Ringsend, Dublin. This is a critical leadership position within a heavy industrial, safety-critical environment, responsible for the management and development of a high-performing maintenance and engineering team across a busy port facility. This hands-on role is focused on ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient maintenance of all plant, equipment, and infrastructure. The successful candidate will bring a strong technical foundation from an Electrical, Mechanical or Fitter background, ideally with significant exposure to heavy plant or industrial operations. A key focus of the role is the development of people and processes, embedding a Lean Six Sigma approach to drive continuous improvement, operational excellence and equipment reliability. Key Responsibilities: Lead with a strong safety-first mindset, promoting health, safety and environmental excellence across all engineering and maintenance activities. Manage, coach, and develop a multi-skilled engineering and maintenance team, building strong internal capability. Plan, oversee and optimise all preventative and reactive maintenance activities to minimise plant downtime and ensure operational continuity. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, implementing Lean Six Sigma, 5S, and best-practice engineering standards. Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, safety, HR, finance, and project teams to deliver effective engineering support. Support capital projects, long-term asset strategy, contractor management, and plant upgrades. Monitor and report on KPIs, maintenance performance, and ensure strict compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Control engineering budgets, optimise resource allocation, and contribute to strategic planning. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Proven engineering management experience in a heavy industrial or heavy plant environment, ideally unionised and safety-critical. Minimum of 3-5 years experience in a similar Engineering Management or Senior Maintenance leadership role. A recognised qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or a Fitter trade background with demonstrated leadership progression. Strong leadership, team development, and communication skills with a practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving. Demonstrated experience in maintenance planning, asset management, and engineering compliance. Practical understanding of engineering legislation and modern maintenance methodologies (e.g. RCM, TPM, CBM). Proven track record in delivering capital projects and managing third-party contractors. Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage budgets and resources effectively. Certification or practical experience with Lean Six Sigma, or a demonstrable track record in driving continuous improvement initiatives. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Engineering Manager will lead all major and sustaining capital project activities within the Operations team. The Engineering Manager will also manage the long term asset management of the site and provide strategic guidance to continually optimise plant safety, performance, efficiency and reliability. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Team leadership, Management & Culture Develop project and engineering resourcing strategy. Proactively engage employees and maintain positive employee relations. Develop and maintain an environment of continuous improvement and process excellence. Develop key cross functional relationships with Production, Quality, Environmental and Maintenance departments. Capital Program Execution and Engineering Strategy Development Manage implementation of Capital Expenditure program. Ensure all projects are compliant with all relevant health, safety, environmental, quality standards and procurement policy. Provide innovative solutions, pre-engineering activities and project cost estimates for Strategic and Capital projects. Direct and manage all stages of each project from planning to completion throughout the project lifecycle. Draft and submit budget proposals, deliver progress reports and manage project resource allocations. Provide leadership and direction to the Project Team, delegating projects and determining priorities. Ensure proper handover to operations on completion including key aspects of safety, training & communication. Develop and implement maintenance/engineering and capital spend plans. Manage the Energy Engineering function within the site to optimise both thermal and electrical efficiency for all energy users Reliability, Performance & Problem Solving Work closely with the maintenance manager to provide leadership and coordination of major planned maintenance interventions. Lead root cause analysis and problem solving relating to plant downtime events. Develop corrective action plans to mitigate risk of unplanned downtime. Achieve all plant productivity metrics (throughput, efficiency, etc.) Provide resource and expertise in areas such as process optimisation, predictive/preventative maintenance, condition-based maintenance and energy efficiency. Compliance Compliance with relevant statutory, regulatory requirements and internal governance requirements. Ensure the Project management and Engineering teams adhere to all relevant health, safety, environmental and quality standards while delivering on key plant objectives.
