  • Support the generation of detailed purchasing specification, aligning to product and process requirements.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to gather information and insights for accurate generation of Purchase Specification
  • Create and maintain detailed timelines to achieve planned program deliverables
  • Assist in the support and completion of defined documentation deliverables
  • Generate defect reports and associated QMS system administrative actions for fulfilment of deliverables against key program milestones to support wider GDD & DPT actions
  • Engage with functional line team to communicate escalations and key program objectives pertaining to Packaging and Labelling.
  • Attend where necessary both functional line and department related meetings

Join our Enterprise Engineering Unified Communications team in delivering mission-critical voice, video, and digital communications solutions that power Amazon's global workforce. As a Systems Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of supporting and enhancing the technologies that connect our employees worldwide. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with the latest communications infrastructure while developing your technical expertise in a fast-paced, global environment.

Key job responsibilities

You'll play an integral role in maintaining and enhancing our communications infrastructure, ensuring seamless service delivery across Amazon's global operations. This includes supporting our cloud-based telecommunications systems, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and implementing system improvements. You'll collaborate with team members to architect and design solutions that scale to meet our growing needs. As part of our commitment to service excellence, you'll participate in regular on-call rotations to ensure our systems remain reliable and available 24/7.

A day in the life

Your typical day might begin with reviewing system alerts and addressing any overnight incidents. You'll join your team's daily stand-up to discuss ongoing projects and any challenges requiring collaboration. Throughout the day, you'll work on system improvements, respond to escalated technical issues from IT engineers, and participate in project meetings with global team members. You might spend time documenting solutions, updating runbooks, or working on automation scripts to improve our systems. When on call, you'll be ready to respond to critical issues and ensure our communications infrastructure remains operational.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • Basic understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing protocols)
  • Knowledge of Linux operating systems
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with scripting languages (Python, Ruby, or Java)
  • Basic understanding of VoIP and real-time communications protocols
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies
  • Experience with cloud platforms and infrastructure as code
  • Interest in emerging communications technologies
  • Previous experience in a technical support or engineering role
  • Experience working in a global team environment

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years in systems or software engineering
  • 3+ years managing technical teams
  • Experience with large-scale distributed systems
  • Strong background in network engineering and infrastructure operations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in related technical field
  • AWS certifications and cloud infrastructure expertise
  • Experience with VoIP, SIP, and unified communications platforms
  • Track record of implementing ITIL practices and operational frameworks
  • Experience with automation tools and infrastructure as code (IaC)
