Job Description

As the Manager - Systems Engineering, you will be responsible for managing all systems engineering within the department while performing both development and operational tasks to maintain application assets. You will work with developers, architects, and app teams facilitating operations, development, and testing functions by continuously automating and streamlining the system integration and deployment processes. You will oversee a robust project management process and delivery timelines to keep projects on schedule and on budget. You will lead and develop the systems engineering team.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Design, implement, and manage cloud-based infrastructure and services, ensuring they meet the organization's requirements for scalability, reliability, security, and performance.
+ Work collaboratively with development teams to integrate cloud services into the software development lifecycle, supporting DevOps practices such as continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).
+ Automate the provisioning, deployment, scaling, and monitoring of cloud infrastructure using infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Azure Resource Manager.

+ Implement and maintain cloud security measures, including managing access controls, network security configurations, and encryption technologies to protect data and applications in the cloud.

+ Provide technical expertise and support to internal teams regarding cloud-based systems, offering guidance and troubleshooting assistance for complex issues.
+ Collaborate with cloud architects and IT security teams to ensure that cloud solutions comply with regulatory requirements and industry best practices for data privacy and security.
+ Document cloud environments, processes, and procedures to maintain a comprehensive knowledge base for internal use and regulatory compliance.
+ Lead the migration of legacy systems to cloud platforms, carefully planning and executing migrations to minimize impact on business operations.
+ Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by experimenting with new cloud technologies and methodologies to enhance the agility and efficiency of cloud infrastructure.
**Qualifications:**
+ Bachelors Degree - Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field required; Masters Degree preferred
+ Licenses/Certificates/Designations - Azure Fundamentals, Azure Certified Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), DevOps Engineer Expert, Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) pA working understanding of enterprise networking concepts like CIDR
+ 5 years proven experience as a Cloud Engineer or similar role, with hands-on experience in deploying and managing infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
+ Strong technical foundation in network, storage, and compute cloud services, along with experience in API usage, command line interface, and SDKs for writing applications

As an Amazon Project Design Mechanical Engineer, you will lead design projects in operational data centers, that remediate issues, upgrade our existing infrastructure or add new services.
You will be the 'go to' engineering resource for these projects and will provide lifecycle support from
design through implementation.
You will use your mechanical expertise to:
-Own the design for existing data center upgrades and design-solutions which add data center infrastructure, capacity, improve availability, and/or increase sustainability.
-Perform design and equipment submittal review for Data Centers in your region.
-Interface with internal and external data center design engineering team, server hardware team,environmental health and safety team, field engineering, and controls engineering to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered.
-Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions.
-Act as technical subject matter expert for your given discipline during new remediation projects.
-Support construction, commissioning, operations, and turnover.

-Possess Strong Engineering Judgement and are able to provide design and recommendations despite
uncertainty
-Are detail and data oriented with familiarity with design/construction processes
-Have experience managing engineering projects and engineering consultants.
-Build trust and relationships with different stakeholders (e.g., Operations, Commissioning, Construction and Design)
-Manage design and as built drawings and documents
Prepare and present progress reports to all relevant stakeholders
-Be inclined to get into the field to see things up close
-Interact with different teams responsible for all aspects of the data centers.
-Prioritize activities to support data center safety, remediation projects, capacity, and availability,
focusing on the actions that are most impactful.

Each day you will interact with different teams responsible for various aspects of the data centers. You will mentor and oversee the work of junior engineers in your discipline. You will have the opportunity to work on projects locally and globally, with up to 25% travel.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 3+ cumulative years of design experience with industrial or commercial engineering in Mission Critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation, oil / gas facilities. (Experienced Engineer)
Preferred Qualifications
- Organized and have the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines and budget
- Possess leadership and problem-solving skills - Direct experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities, especially data centers.
-Experience as resident design engineer or hands-on (in the field) design consultant.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
- Ability to carry design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment/mass production
- Possess excellent communication and writing skills, attention to detail, maintain high quality standards
- Basic understanding of both mechanical and electrical equipment/design related to data center electrical and mechanical topology
- EPMS/SCADA/BMS Controls system experience (software and/or hardware)
