The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for Senior Engineers and Engineers to join our Transmission Power System Planning team. As an Engineer, you will form part of the Transmission Power System Planning function and will carry out a range of power system studies and analyses to investigate the impact of customer connections on the transmission grid and assessing the impact of these connections on the wider system. You will analyse the outcome of analysis and propose solutions where appropriate, prepare presentations and reports for internal and external stakeholder engagement and contribute to justifying investments decisions in the transmission grid. The role holder will support the functions processes designed to achieve regulated energy targets and stakeholder needs in line with company strategy. 
The Team
The Transmission Power System Planning function is responsible for designing the connection methods for generation and demand customers who wish to connect to the electricity system and assessing the impact of these connections on the wider system. We identify the needs on the system, develop a range of reinforcement options and contribute to justifying investments decisions which ensure that the transmission grid is meeting the reliability and performance standards as well as supporting the renewable ambition and climate change targets. 
About You
Successful candidates will have: 
- An engineering degree, typically with years experience of power systems
 - Demonstrated experience in carrying out power system modelling and analysis using power systems analysis software such as PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, and Plexos.
 - Awareness of energy targets and ambitions for decarbonisation of the energy sector.
 - Good, developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.

 - Explaining machine faults, findings and repairs undertaken to customers.
 
You must:
- live in or within a reasonable travelling distance of Dublin.
 - Hold a full Irish driving licence.
 - A basic understanding of electricity and ability to understand equipment drawings / diagrams.
 - Have good face to face customer skills.
 
It would be great if you had:
- Experience in the maintenance of electrical equipment or as an electrician.
 - Experience or knowledge of maintaining electro-mechanical equipment.
 - Field service experience.
 - Basic plumbing skills (not essential).
 - Experience in using PDAs, smart phones and computers/ tablets.
