Mechanical Maintenance A growing, market leading Irish manufacturer are currently looking to hire a mechanical engineer to join their prestigious team in Co. Kildare. **Abbott Ireland Nutrition Division Cootehill Cavan**
Abbott Nutrition produces a range of infant formulae in all pack sizes under the brand name "Similac". To complement the range of "Similac" infant formulae, the facility also manufactures a range of follow on formulae under the brand name of "Gain". The essential ingredient is liquid skim milk and this is combined with carbohydrate, vegetable oils, vitamins and minerals. The product is blended, pasteurised, dried and packaged at the site and once packaged, is distributed to Europe, South East Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and Canada.
Established in 1975, Abbott Nutrition in Ireland is the largest powder manufacturing facility for the production of infant formulae within the Abbott Corporation worldwide. Approximately 1,000 dairy farms in Ireland and Northern Ireland supply quality milk to the Cootehill facility which processes 500,000 litres per day. This secure supply together with Ireland's reputation as a green, clean environment is of significant strategic importance to Abbott Nutrition.
**Primary Function / Goals / Objectives**
+ The Technician is responsible for consulting any SOP's or equipment manual for any job task he/she may carry out and ensure they fully understand and adhere to the SOP.
+ Housekeeping is a critical function of all jobs and the technician is expected to ensure all housekeeping activities are observed and carried out appropriately. It is important that the Technician is in adherence to the Housekeeping SOP.
+ It is important that cGMP is a main priority in any operation carried out in this job function.
+ To maintain Plant and Equipment at Optimum performance and provide utilities to Manufacturing Department and General Plant to achieve organizational annual plan.
+ Carry out maintenance and trouble shooting on plant and equipment.
+ Carry out commissioning of plant and equipment. Support FAT's & SAT's.
+ Carry out troubleshooting and diagnostic fault finding of plant and equipment.
+ Ensure no faults occur and if they do adjustments are made and checks carried out until no fault exists. .
+ Carry out engineering work orders in a timely and safe manner while maintaining adherence to cGMP.
+ Complete all work order forms in full.
+ Carry out plant preventative maintenance programme as scheduled.
+ Fully complete all P.M's/DM's plant forms and maintain full compliance.

**Major Responsibilities**
+ To support the plant in all Business Excellence activities.
+ To maintain Plant and Equipment at Optimum performance and provide utilities to Manufacturing Department and General Plant to achieve organizational annual plan.
+ Minimize downtime in production areas.
+ Independently creates work plans, and can complete work with little to no supervision
+ Independently carry's out in-depth mechanical works
+ Routinely update or create training aids for operators and/or craft, develops 1PL/SW.
+ Routinely update or create PM's based on analysis of DM's or other line failures
+ Support other areas across plant if additional help is needed
+ Update /maintain plant forms or process performance trackers - short interval control.
+ Sample, test, analyze, record, monitor process parameters.
**Education Required**
+ Have a recognized apprenticeship in the Mechanical field.
+ Senior or junior trades certificates in Mechanical craft.
**Knowledge**
+ An ability to read diagrams/drawings and troubleshoot equipment.
+ Six months on the job experience.
+ Ability to work on platforms, scaffolding & ladders.
+ Good mental ability to logically follow a line of though for problem solving.
+ Computer Skills
+ Competent in Packing processes.
**Accountability / Scope**
+ Incur downtime and inability to produce product. If they do not adhere to cGMP we could have product recall or in worst situation market recall. Environmental control problems.

**Overview:**
As the Maintenance Technician, you will support the Maintenance Manager to maintain a state-of-the-art automated plant. You will be required to complete corrective and preventative maintenance to maintain core and non-core plant equipment to the highest standard, therefore a strong electrical and mechanical aptitude will be paramount.
You will also need to utilize engineering systems to ensure site and regulatory compliance. You will appraise site equipment, to improve equipment efficiency and assist production in lean manufacturing will be a key aspect in maintaining and improving site growth and production output.
The role will involve shift work on rotating basis ( **7am to 3.30pm and 3pm to 11.30pm** ). You will get a shift premium of 20% on top of your basic salary. There will also be a requirement to be on callout.
**In the role of the Maintenance Technician, you will:**
+ Ensure compliance with all HSE and Food Safety & Quality legal and regulatory requirements and associated policies, standards, procedures and forms of the Company within the operations environmentLead preventative maintenance of site equipment to improve equipment efficiency and reduce machine downtime.
+ Respond to corrective and emergency breakdowns to improve up-times on equipment, while maintaining GMP standards.
+ Assist in developing the TPM and PM process to cover all core / non-core equipment for the manufacturing facility.
+ Support production with TPM schedules and procedures to maintain equipment to the highest standard.
+ Complete site safety checks to ensure site regulatory compliance and continuous improvement of site safety.
+ Monitor and evaluate all equipment systems for the manufacturing group and make necessary changes for continuous production improvements including but not limited to the modifying and upgrading of equipment.
+ Support the Maintenance Manager & Maintenance Planner to maintain and monitor on site systems, to include PPM and BMS software.
+ Support cross functional departments and external contractors in project work, with tight deadlines.
+ Ensuring all maintenance activities are completed in a timely manner and to the correct standard.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Qualification in electrical, mechanical and/or automation related field
+ 5+ years experience working in a similar role
+ Have experience of working within the Food & Beverage.
+ Have BMS (Building Management Systems) experience.
+ Documentation & Systems knowledge like SAP, PLC's SCADA etc.
+ Have problem solving skills within a manufacturing environment.
+ Excellent communication skills

As the Maintenance Technician, you will work as part of the Maintenance team and will be responsible for ensuring that all infrastructure systems perform predictably and continue to operate as required in order to support the manufacturing process. **Job Description**
**Responsibilities**
+ Maximise the availability of all equipment to ensure full operations schedule adherence. Ensuring minimum response times to any utility system issues which impact on availability.
+ Monitor day to day performance of systems. Troubleshooting of performance trends. Anticipating, solving or escalating problems as appropriate.
+ Perform maintenance and improvement work on all equipment in order to enable full operations schedule adherence.
+ Support the Preventative Maintenance program by carrying out effective maintenance routines and repairs to prolong the useful life and optimise the efficiency of equipment.
+ Develop and implement equipment specific maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability and performance in line with maintenance best practice.
+ Support program to optimise current Planned Maintenance procedures.
+ Work with the Engineering Systems Team Lead to develop a "reliability" cantered asset care strategy, with the following core pillars: equipment criticality and spares assessment, predictive maintenance techniques, fit for purpose PM program, technician driven RCA program and FMEA techniques.
+ Maintain safety and regulatory equipment at all times and report any defects.
+ Ensure accurate recording of all work completed in Maximo e.g. durations, spare parts used etc. and promote usage in the department.
+ Liaise with site stores team on the procurement of spare and replacement parts for all utility systems
+ Ensure that maintenance cover for your areas is provided at all times by demonstrating flexibility regarding working overtime, potentially across shifts, to provide cover for holidays, sick leave, shutdown periods, busy periods and as required.
+ Ensure that critical spare parts lists for each system are identified and appropriate levels of spares are maintained.
+ Management of detailed technical files and equipment history logs for all equipment.
+ Act as a subject matter expert in relevant equipment, instrument and system root cause investigations and fill the role of lead investigator where required.
+ Provide support to Operations, Validation, Engineering and Quality where required.
+ Support of new product introductions and introduction of new equipment.
+ Assist in the management of all required external contractors and suppliers for engineering.
+ Supporting the development of training packs for all equipment using existing site knowledge, together with external contractors as appropriate. Co-ordinate training for the team on these training packs.
+ Ensure compliance to all aspects of the Company's Health, Safety and Environmental procedures are maintained.
+ Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required
+ Support the assessment, action and closure of assigned safety actions (ATS, Concern Reports) in a satisfactory manner.
+ Aware of and comply with QA facilities, Preventative Maintenance, Calibration, Good Documentation Practices, Material Segregation and Control requirements.
+ Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management policy, Quality Goals.
+ Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines
+ Ensuring that plant and equipment is operating in a compliant manner and that all activities are conducted to meet GMP regulations, site and corporate quality standards and any additional regulatory requirements as required
+ Strive for the highest standards in housekeeping and GMP
+ Support CAPA investigations, determining accurate root cause and implementing action plans to prevent reoccurrences.
**Qualifications and experience**
+ Completed Engineering Qualification/Apprenticeship in Mechanical, Electrical or Instrument Engineering or equivalent.
+ Solid experience within a GMP manufacturing environment
+ Strong electrical and electronic repair and diagnostic skills
+ Ability to work on own initiative & judgement with minimal supervision
+ General skills and expertise related to maintenance and facilities activities
+ Demonstrate levels of theoretical knowledge with practical application
+ Relevant working knowledge of a regulated industry and GMP
+ A high degree of computer literacy
**Desired Skills**
+ Previous experience working with a CMMS preferably Maximo
+ Experience in reliability centralized maintenance techniques i.e RCM, FMEA and equipment criticality assessments
+ Demonstrate Commitment, Engagement and Accountability at all times.
