Construction Equipment Cleaner / Power Washer

McHale Plant Sales wish to recruit for a Heavy Plant and Equipment Cleaner role based at our Birdhill, Co Tipperary depot.

This position will involve:

• Power-washing and cleaning of large construction equipment units when they arrive from site, including excavators, dump trucks, Dozers, wheel loaders, etc .
• Wash and clean new and used construction machinery to prepare them for sale.
• Assisting our spray shop and panel beaters in preparing equipment for respraying.
• Ensure that the wash bay area, associated tools and cleaning products are kept clean, organised and safe from hazards in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
• Yard duties to include forklift operation for loading and unloading trucks, and assisting with work within our workshop as required.

Ability to operate heavy plant such as diggers, wheel loaders, etc. is an advantage but not necessary.

Previous experience in a similar role is desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct diagnostic tests to identify mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic issues in trucks.
• Perform repairs and maintenance tasks, including engine overhauls, brake replacements, and transmission repairs.
• Troubleshoot and repair issues with steering, suspension, and exhaust systems.
• Address issues related to fuel systems, cooling systems, and electrical components.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, filter replacements, and tire rotations.
• Inspect and adjust brakes, belts, hoses, and fluid levels.
• Lubricate moving parts to prevent wear and ensure smooth operation.
• Conduct safety inspections to ensure trucks meet regulatory standards and are roadworthy.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform on-site repairs when required.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a formal vocational or technical training program in automotive or heavy equipment maintenance.
• 3 years
  of experience in truck maintenance and repair.
• Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual tasks and lift heavy equipment.

This role will help ensure optimal machine reliability, safety, and customer satisfaction, both in the workshop and out in the field.

Work Experience & Qualifications required:

• Proven track record and strong experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic/Plant Engineer
• Excellent technical knowledge across electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems
• Strong customer service and client interaction skills
• Flexibility to work in Dublin and various locations around Ireland
